Problem with fit on 70 Challenger factory louvers
« on: January 01, 2008 - 12:56:10 PM »
My 70 Challenger didn't originally come with them, but I found a set of factory louvers. The problem I'm having is the two center ribs (the pieces the slats are attached to) on the louvers hit the glass, and I don't seem to have any adjustments to make them fit. I noticed the rear glass has a curve (top to bottom). The ribs hit on the high points of the window curve. The holddowns can't be raised any higher-no more threads left. Without the glass in the car, the louvers fit perfectly. I'm assuming cars with louvers didn't have a different rear window from non-louver cars. Any ideas?

Post a picture please.  I think you can run a piece of hose on the pins like they do with A12 Glass hoods to pack the louver off the glass. :clueless:

Are you sure they are real OEM louvers?

I don't think he has Cuda louvers. The Cuda rear window is different. The Challenger's is probably 4-5" wider at the bottom.

Are we talking about aftermarket louvers, or the originals??

My car came with louvers originally but were gone when I bought the car. Still has the posts and screw inserts on the top. Is any one remaking them and has pictures. After I get the car repainted  putting louvers back on will be the final touch if I can find some.

That's where I got mine.  :grinyes: $350 including shipping was what I paid a couple of years ago. The seller was in Pennsylvania... I believe Homer City.  :clueless: He doesn't advertise often, and unfortunately, I have no contact info to give. I LOVE these louvers though. The brackets slide up under the window trim, so no drilling!!  Solid aluminum.  :bananasmi
