Big day today, fired the newly rebuilt 371ci motor in my '72 Cuda.....its finally running after sitting for 25 years (I've had it 6 months). All went well, no major problems but cant get it to turn over with the key switch, HOWEVER, IT WILL TURN THE MOTOR OFF. I pulled the ballast resister and it appears to be powered on both sides when the key is turned. Next looked at the solinoid relay and the power is there, but I cant tell if its getting to the ignition switch. I have an old one that I plan to try, but here is my other MAJOR concern:
I do not have a neutral safety switch hooked up. There were no wires hanging around for it. I do have the 3 prong plug on the tranny, just no wires/plug. I believe it runs to the bulkhead. Could this be the reason the switch is not working? If so, can I get a neutral switch locally that I can hook up. Originality is not an issue here.
MANY THANKS TO ALL THAT HAVE HELPED ME OUT!!!!!
Going to celebrate tonight at the OUTBACK.
