That would work for primer.     Get a good one for paint.   Cheap and good never go together. :eek4:

Plastic cups tend to not seal well. This would work for primer but find a better gun for spraying paint. Aluminum cups seem to seal better.

For a very cheap gun, the Harbor Freight "purple" gun gets good reviews.  It's this model:

I use it for epoxy primer.  If you're looking for just one cheap gun to shoot primer plus paint, I would recommend the Astro LVLP Evo 4014.  On the auto body forums it comes highly recommended and it uses less air (LV vs HV) so that it can be used with smaller compressors.

I bought a Develbiss Starting Line gun kit with the metal cups and I love it. Only cost $125 from my local paint store and has both a full size and touch up gun and two tips and needles.

:iagree:  This would be the best gun and the others for primer or base coat.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

The Napa Cobalt line is a decent value priced gun for top coats. They do offer a number of different needles and tips so you can dial in the atomization.

For primer coats, the harbor Freight is probably the best deal out there.

Cool, thanks guys.  I still am debating if I should do the paint on my truck or not, weighing the options.

The first one I did I took the idea of if it dosn't turn out to my liking I can still pay to have it redone. At least I tried. I have done several since and am helping a friend with his 70 R/T 440 Six Pak. I say go for it and don't look back. The first one I did I repainted it several times untill I got it down and liked it. It takes pratice so don't be surprised if you need to redo it or at least part of it.
