/6 Challenger T/A?
« on: January 01, 2008 - 06:46:57 PM »
A friend of mine says he knows of a local guy who has a T/A Challenger that was ordered from the factory with a /6. Is this possible? I thought T/A's could only be had with a 340.

I have heard rumors of one car................

But it was not ordered as a T/A. According to the story I heard, a /6 car was pulled of the assembly line and used as a test mule to fit the T/A parts and see if they fit. This supposedly took place in November of 1969, which is also the same month the first batch of T/A blocks were cast.

I asked the car owner several questions and for photos etc, and he never got back to me, this was years ago. Still just a rumor with no proof.........................

May or may not be the same car?

One of the protoype T/As was a 318 car though.

He said it was 1 of 1. I'll have to see if he will show me the car. If so, I'll try to get pic.s.

I would say it would have been a test car or someone liked the stripes and put them on a /6 Challenger.

With the price of fuel it doesn't sound like a bad car to have :roflsmiley:

There was more of this that went on than most are willing to say or admit that they ever heard of.  Things were changed on the line.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Not yet. Havn't had a chance to talk to my buddy yet. Next time I do, I'll ask him about it. Hopefully he can take me to see it. That's just something I have to see for myself to believe. Stay tuned.
