Tying to find out information about these pistons.
What compression they are and if they are a forged or cast piston ?

L2293F are forged & are advertised as 11:1 comp pistons with 88cc heads & composition gasket

Hi C/P,

My brother is looking to put a 383 together with these pistons and was thinking of using the newer Mopar Purple 509 smooth idle cam and six pack set up.  Would this cam be alright with a six pack or not ?  Car is an Australian A-body Hardtop.

the .509 would be very close to the last choice I would use , the 6 pack is difficult to make work well with very low vacuum & the 509 make very low vacuum , I would lean towards  an Engle K58 or a Lunati Voodoo grind he will be far happier ijn the long run , what is the rest of the combo ,. gears intake converter stall , what is he using the car for primarily , what RPM power band does he need ? I might change my cam choice based on these

Hey C/P,

He likes the idea of running the purple shaft cams, i was trying to tell him that if it had to be a purple shaft he should look at the 474 cam.

What are the profiles of the camshafts you recomended please.

Diff is 8 3/4 with 3:23 but changing to 3:7
Intake is the standard Edelbrock 383 six pack intake
Stall will depend on camshaft
Car will be used as a weekend car for car events and a bit of track.

Thanks,
Kenny.

If I was using a Mopar Purple shaft I would use a .528 soild with 1.6 rockers
I still think the Engle K58 is a good choice for a hydraulic cam or a similar Lunati Voodoo
