This site is getting busy!
« on: January 03, 2008 - 01:54:51 PM »
I remember just over a year ago when I signed up, I could miss a couple of days and there would be about 4-5 pages of posts to catch up on.  But now it is about 3 times that amount.  I was absent for about 1 1/2 days and there were 12 pages of posts.  :pullinghair:  Has anyone else notice this?

I've seen a big change recently. I only wish my computer would refresh the pages quicker. I clicked on this post and it said zero replies, so when I go to write something 3 were ahead of me. Usually I have to leave the site and come back before anything appears fresh.

Out of the 2000 or so members only 125 or so actually come here everyday. But helps on the mods checking the posts that way.

I think the reason the threads are going by so fast is the fact that some here tend to answer with one icon, or two word responses, taking up unecessary space.
Reading through this wastes the mods time, as well as those interested in an intelligent response, or a legitimate contribution, instead of someone just wanting to "up" their post numbers.

Or maybe I should have just one iconed you guys with ......... :blah:

I've noticed an increase too. There's usually about 3-4 pages of new posts every day. I was away for about a week once and had 30 pages of unread posts. It took me forever to get through it all, but I didn't want to miss anything.

weve had a solid start to 2008, but if you look at our stats, were actually down from our high point at the beginning of last year.  i suppose that may be typical however.  with winter months settling in, more of us have our cars stored and spend our time in doors, as opposed to warmer summer months where were out playing.

I think with the Holiday season, many people had time off from work, so they spent it here rather than in a cold garage.

I'll tell you - that happens far less on this board than some other boards I've been a member of.  And usually when there is a simple "smiley" reply, there's usually plenty of other replies on the same thread to read up on.  In fact many times on the poll or open-opinion threads, I feel like my replies get lost because so many other people are replying as well.

I make the occassional smiley post just so that the smiley face shows up on the left side of of each forum so that I can keep better track of the threads I want to.. ....keep track of!

Yea I pop the little pop corn eatin guy  on there to mark a thread I'm more interested in but the best way I've found to keep track of those is my desktop shortcut is the "Show new replies to your posts". which appears at the top of the screen so I get to see those threads separately from the rest, then I click the " Show unread posts since last visit" rather than surfin through the whole board every visit.

Winter has set in hard around here and even though I still spend time in the garage there`s not much else to do(can`t snowboard anymore  :walkaway: ) so I spend more time here.
