1971 340 4 SPEED CUDA REAL DEAL LOADED WITH OPTIONS, MUST SELL.
« on: January 03, 2008 - 11:18:09 PM »
Well guys it has been a while and right now we are looking to unload a lot of projects as you can see within some of my other posts. This one however is probably the best of the bunch in my personal opinion. This car is in fact a real 1971, 340, 4 Speed, Shaker Hood, Gilled Fendered Cuda. We do have the original fender tag for the car. It is an original B5 blue car and the absolute best part, a completely rust free car. The previous owner had obtained this car many years ago and never did anything with it. The floor pans, trunk, quarters, all the original sheet metal. The fenders however are repops as is the hood but they are factory correct to how this car was ordered. We do not have the original motor or transmission. This car is nearly ready for paint and the photos located below are photos I obtained of the car just last night. Please feel free to call me with any questions or concerns you might have. We are asking 35k or best offer.

Thanks,
Shawn

  Fender tag readout please.

Did you say 71?  Or did the ad say 70?  Looks like 71 parts but the ad says 70.  Must be a misprint.

Shawn - that car almost qualifies to be a Corvette. Are those new panels or bondoed originals?

What do you mean exactly? The fenders are new repops.

I believe he was referring to the amount of filler in that first picture.

Shawn - I am not into sarcasm. 71BB summed it up for me. If those panels are new then it has taken a lot of filler to make them look good. My car used new quarters plus many other panels and we only used a total of 1 gal of bondo in the entire car and you know sanding should remove 60-70% of the filler to get the finish. I also removed a vinyl roof and we hardly used any bondo there except fro above the windshield area and of course the roof joints at the back.
The pictures of your past projects look good to me as far as quality is concerned because after all paint will tell the truth won't it?

Regards
Barry

I'm sorry, I just didnt understand what you were referring to. Thank you for clarifying. The car was 100% rust free and still is. There are no panels filled with bondo. We use bondo to smooth out imperfections. Unfortunately with this car, there were lots of dents and dings that had to be worked out (nothing major). There is still a lot of work left to do before it is ready for paint. I hope this clears up any confusion.

At $35K, no engine and tranny, lots of unknowns I'm sure, I don't see where the upside is for the buyer. :2cents:

 :22yikes:

What?  35k?  I'm sorry but I don't know anyone that would pay that much for a body.  No disrespect to you shawn, I'm sure you've got some money into it and are trying to do what's right for your business, but hot damn, if it is true abuot 35k, I don't know anyone who would be willing to jump on that.  Maybe if it came with everything and it just had to be assembled.

It looks like he has almost everything for the car. It is not just a body. I would love to have that car, but unfortunately at this time I can't.

i'm with 73estroker,i would use all sorts of tools to work out the dents and dings instead of covering them up with tons of fillerpaintless dent removal tools do wonders if you know how to use them,or if it's a tough spot, slapping spoon or stud welder works great too :2cents:
