Another diorama--a bit different for me!
« on: January 06, 2008 - 09:56:36 PM »
This is my latest build. It was going to be my dads christmas present but I ran into a few delays so it is now my dads new years gift.   :P  This is my first try with building with plaster so there was a lot of trial and error (and mistakes).  First a little history. Last summer I was talking with my dad about cars and he brought up that he was looking for a model of his 56 Chevy Belair he used to own. I think it was the first NEW car he had bought. I was born in 57 so I was brought home in it. It was a two tone--green & white belair. Fast forward to just before christmas and I remembered this and thought I would build one and stick it on a simple little display base. My wife then makes the suggestion I should build a replica of his shop to put the chevy in front of (dang her). My dad had his house built back in 1961 or 62. He and my uncle then built the cinderbrick shop out back for his major appliance and refrigeration/AC repair buisiness. He still lives there.  At one point he bought a new wharehouse and I was able to use the shop as a garage for my cuda---heat in the winter and a swamp cooler in the summer. Sure was nice while it lasted     Anyway here are a few pictures. More at the photobucket site at the bottom of my avatar area/signature ??  Thanks for looking     Doug
