rallye hood
« on: January 07, 2008 - 07:25:47 AM »
for the challenger rallye hood, is it suppoesed to have a slight crease in the front of the hood. i have seen some pics where it does have it right on the top of the hood about 4 inches long in the center in the front. i want to make sure that if it is suppoesed to be there i do not have it covered up.

I would leave them off, but it is your car.

A good reason to put them on would be to remove the latch attached to the hood and just use the hood pins.  I have seen this on another Challenger and it worked well.  Just a thought.   :2thumbs:

Catch your skull on the hood retainer a few times and this starts to sound like a real good idea.

I thought about installing pins but wondered if over time the cables might rub the trim or finish off. Also chips from one getting away from you when unpinning them. :clueless:

i think that the cables have a plastic coating on them that makes it so it doesnt hurt the chrome

That is an EXCELLENT point.

Since I installed them, I can tell you to steer the cables into the crack between the hood and fenders... otherwise it will rub a spot on your paint even though the cable is plastic coated. Unpinning them is not a problem.

B/E body pin kits have 23 inch lanyards. I have had them on mine since the build 7 years ago and have had no rub issues at all.  i did remove the safety catch or head banger but left the latch in.

Challenger lanyards are only 18" long, so I guess you have lanyards from a Cuda? They are longer.

It's all about the look really. The whole package.

Kinda like, what's pinned down under the hood.
