ARR Cuda clones
« on: January 07, 2008 - 07:55:01 PM »
What do you guys think about AAR Cuda clones? I have found a guy that makes the complete kits for 72-74 Barracudas. The cars would look identical to the "real AARS".

Hate to be a stick in the mud but to be anal, there are no such things as "72-74 AAR clones". "Clones" (ugly word) are identical (to a point) mainly the year, engine etc. As you probably know, AARS were a 70 option only. That guys build these kits is build custom AARs. I myself like replicas ("clones") so am for it, custom, #'s or replicas as long as it's Mopar it's fine by me.

What I mean't was to use 72-74 Barracudas as the cars instead of 70/71 cars. It might put some value to these cars. The 70/71 Cudas are already high in value.

That would be a good Idea for sure.  Most everything is available to make the 72 or newer into a 70 and make the AAR.  Go for it and it sounds cool.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I say go for it! it's your car, do as you please. These cars are WAY over priced, and most of us will never have that real AAR, or hemicuda. And they are not getting easier to find. Have fun with it now. In 100 years whos going to care anyway.  :2cents:

Do you think that there would be a market for cloned AAR Cudas? I have found a place today where I can get Cudas well worth the money. Granted none of them will have the 340 6 pack setup but they do have 318, 340 or 360 power. I can get the complete conversion kit from the hood to the rear deck spoiler.
I was told that there are a few guys doing this but there is room for one more.

I believe there would be a market for them as long as you say that they are clones.

I know where you are coming from on that. I would hate to spend thousands of dollars on a AAR Cuda and find out it's a clone. My AAR's would be identical in appearance with the exception of 20" wheels. The powerplant will be either a 318 or a 360 or maybe a 340 ever once in a while. The cars will also have ps/pb and ac and a Sony sound system. The cars will also have sport slats on the back glass.

Very nice looking clone. Looks like the "real" thing.
