Axle codes on fender tag?
« on: January 11, 2008 - 10:02:18 AM »
Is the axle identified on the fender tag, or only on the broadcast sheet?

I think the fender tag only tells the rear gear ratio.

I do not think that the axle information is on the fender tag.  May be in a special option only.  That info is on the build sheet and may be correct there.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Thanks. I found a Fury III the other day and I wanted to verify the axle (or, more to the point, that the axle is or isn't worth having).  I guess I'll have to pull the rear seat to make sure.

Can anybody tell me if there's an axle code on this tag? It was a 360-2bbl 904 car, so I doubt there's anything exciting, but you never know. I ran it through an online decoder, but one whole line came up as unidentifiable.

No axle code on yours.  Fender tag axle codes (A31, A33, A34) are only denoted on 'performance' ratios; i.e. the A33 code designates 3.54 Dana , A34 is 4.10 Dana (as stated by Chryco) and A31 is 3:91 8 3/4. You do have a very cool and unusual color combo: Tawny Gold ext/gold int/yellow side moulding.

Thanks, FM3.  Not mine, just a car I saw in a salvage yard.  It did look pretty cool, though.
