now for the rear end
« on: January 12, 2008 - 10:26:32 AM »
Have finially figured out the engine and converter I am going to use.

Engine:

340
extreem energy 222-3 cam
edelbrock performer rpm intake
holley 750 carb electric choke and vacc sec
bored .030 over
stock x heads with the springs from the cam kit

torque converter:

Comp Cams 1202738 700R Xtreme 256 Torque Converter
in 727 tranny

the tranny and block are matching numbers and I want to keep in stock as much as possible
with that said all the up grades have been done by a previous owner the only new stuff I am doing is the cam and converter.

with that being said I currently have a 8 3/4 rear end with open diff and 2.73 gears in a 489 member.  Would love to have a 3.23 sure grip but thats not happening since the availabilty is rare.

the car is a daliy driver and will have some highway time about 5 miles total a day to and from work is highway.
So my question is should I change it knowing that the best I could get is 3.55 gears with sure grip or leave it alone?

Thanks
