Hello - hope this works - Newbie from NJ
« on: January 12, 2008 - 10:37:31 PM »
Hello - I don't know how I came across this site but have been surfing it for a few weeks now.  Very interesting stuff on here and a lot of variety which is great.  I live in Northern NJ so I am freezing for half the year.  I have been into Mopars my entire life due mainly to my father being into them for about the last 45 years (probably the same for a lot of people I would imagine).  He is mainly a lover of the B-body but I am here of course because I like the E-body although I wouldn't mind any mopar.  Right now I have two, a 1970 Barracuda Convertible undergoing its second mild driver restoration and a 1971 Challenger R/T which I currenlty drive when it is nice.  Hope to post some more stuff soon if I can.  Thanks.

Jon,

:clapping: Welcome to the best place on the web.  I agree with you about having your dad owning mopars while growing up, thats how it started with me too.  What color is your '70 Barracuda?  Looking forward to seeing more pictures.

Is the Challenger a 4X4? It has mud flaps on it.
Just kidding. It looks like a nice ride.

Thanks for the greetings everyone.  Right now the convertible is in primer and getting ready for some paint coming soon.  I recently had the driver frame rail replaced as it was slightly crumpled by an accident by the former owner.  I will see if I can get pics ups at another time.  The Challenger I picked up a couple of years ago in as is condition, something to drive around while the Barracuda was going throught the resto.  I haven't done much to it but enjoy it, I agree the 4X4 mudflaps should go.  I was told by the owner who I bought it from, who bought it from the person who restored it out in Ohio they did the resto in the 80's so it has a lot of those touches.  The mud flaps, it had chrome ladder bars that I removed, it still has the great rear air shocks with the too big tires on the rear, it even has a cobra cd/radio!  However the body is in fantastic shape.  The color is some gold color that they used on Semis, the name escapse me right now but it is originally a Plum Crazy car.  It also was a 4 speed 340 R/T car but now houses a 360 with a 727.  Luckily the person who changed the car left in a lot of the miscellaneous 4 speed stuff like keeping the original floor hump in the car and just bolting a B&M shifter on there and they actually wired up the reverse lights to a toggle switch under the dash and kept in the reverse light, and instead of changing the pedals, they took a sawzall to the clutch pedal so all you have is the gas pedal and a small brake pedal.  But it is fun.

Welcome to the site and sounds like you have a couple of nice Mopar cars. If your Challenger RT is a 340 car it is pretty rare as thsy never made very many with the 4-speed. Keep us posted on the progress of your convertible and post some pictures of it so we can all check it out. Stick around and enjoy all this site has to offer.

Nice looking car and a great project car.

I hope to might see you at Englishtown Mopar Nationals this year. I try to support our local Mopar shows since it is starting to lose attendance. I would hate to see NJ loose this show.
