3 speaker dash - speaker covers
« on: January 13, 2008 - 05:08:04 PM »
Is there a difference in the left and right side of the outside dash speaker covers? I had my covers stripped and started to paint them today and noticed on the  back they say  B/L. I assume this means bottom Left. My problem is that both of my covers are marked this way??? They were on my car this way 25 years ago but who knows if they fit correctly and I can't remember.

They are usually marked left and right.  Not sure how the fit would be with two left ones. :dunno:

Just looked at mine (interior's apart) One is B/L the other is B/R. The "B" should be for "Back", the narrow end that faces you or your passenger, (back of car).

Hope pictures below help.  It looks as if both sides are the same to me.

Thanks Hood,
I guess the only way to tell for sure would be to have the covers off the car and hold them next to each other. Mopar had many parts marked Left and Right that were the same. Although I love these cars, the quality was lacking by todays standards. When I was removing the old seam sealer from my car a few months ago, I found a paper coffee cup (the ones with the poker cards on it) that was embedded in the seam sealer. Can't you just see the line worker getting off from break and throwing the cup in the car and then putting sealer on top of it

My covers are off and I couldn't tell any difference holding them side by side, one on top of the other, or switched from side to side on the dashpad. If there is a difference it's beyond me.

Wait a second guys, the BL/BR stand for barracuda/left and barracuda/right and the challenger ones should be CL/CR.
That was told to me by a Mopar guy a couple of days ago.I am looking for a complete set also.

So Barracuda's and Challenger's have different covers? Probably not, but maybe that's how they marked them back then.  :dunno:  Don't you love Mother Mopar?   :pullinghair:

Now that we have established the correct identifiers on the back i.e. B/R B/L J/R J/L, is there any difference in the part? I guess I should be more specific
1.) Will left and right exchange?
2.) Will Cuda and Challlenger exchange?

1.) I would say that with almost 99.9% both left and right would be interchangeable....in other words, they're the same.
2.) Challenger and Cuda the same?  not sure, never had a Chally to study them..Someone will pop up with the answer soon enough.

In my opinion, they are basically the same as a 6X9 speaker cover, only these are somewhat square in shape, but both speakers in the dash are the same size, so the cover would be the same also!
