Show me those headers!!
« on: January 14, 2008 - 02:08:59 PM »
I see that there's a couple finishing options for the TTI headers - anyone have pictures of the different options?

I'm not really going for a show queen - I'm wondering if the Nickel Chrome plating will be sufficient.  I just want the power!

Jeff,

Ceramic coating is the only way to go. My car had plain headers when I first bought it, and they were a blast furnace.  :22yikes: I would get a hot foot after an hour on the hiway. Ceramic coating reduces the temp a great deal. Now I don't have any melted tennis shoes.

Hedman, IMO, is ALMOST right up there with TTi. And in fact, TTi lost me as a customer because appearantly they don't offer a 1 7/8" SBM header. Hedman does and I paid a TTi price for them.

Not exactly sure what "SBM" is, but they do make a 1 7/8 header - I was reading that page when I posted this question.

So besides TTI and Hedman, who else is there?

4C what are they for?? anyway, i havent found a small block header other than TTI that goes OVER the drag link, i have hooker and couldnt hate them more. try spinning the wheels while turning left and having the tie rod end jam on the top side of the header. yep, your stuck turning left until you MUSCLE it back!

Th Headmans I have seen are Junk , the mini starter will not fit on a big block & the small block goes under the steering link & cover 5&7 spark plugs
TTi is the only company I have seen that can keep the pipes above the drag link on a small block header
I have heard Thorleys are good headers but I have never used them

I bought a whole system for an e-body 440 from the header to the cuda exhaust tips complete directly from TTI and I tell you .  . .  it was more that 2000 bucks complete with shipping and everything.  First the system didn't fit right and I had to have some mods done for it to work and then the header hits the idler arm . . . . alot!  Sad situation.  :walkaway:

I have ceramic coated Dynomax headers on my Challenger and I couldn't be happier.  They fit great and do not hang too low.  I have never scraped them on anything, the coating does help tremendously with heat and I didnt have to dent or modify anything to get them to fit.  Starter clearance is also great, I changed a stock starter without having to loosen or remove anything else.  The ministarter fits even better.  I have plenty of clearance all around.  They were like $300 from Summit I believe.
