I need a name...
« on: January 15, 2008 - 12:25:37 PM »
"20 minutes" is cool with me - probably one of the least insulting nicknames I've ever had.  :)

But my car needs a name.  Actually not my car, my project.

There's "Sick Fish," "Twisted Fish,"  Everyone remembers the "Cuda Guy Project."

I want one for my car - somethin' catchy and creative.

Of course to help you need to know my intentions, so here goes:

It's a '73 Barracuda - factory 318.  White.  Sloooooowwww....

It's going to be a '73 'Cuda, 440, mild stroke (500) built for reliability, longevity, and good, solid performance.  I'm going to upgrade the torsion bars, a-arms, and possibly go with rack-and-pinion.  I'm aiming for the 550 to 600hp range before the light shot of nitrous (just for fun,) but pretty much a confident, powerful street cruiser.  Something that'll roast tires for fun but be enjoyable for long cruises to car shows.  Air conditioning, decent sound system, maybe some extra 12V power ports.  :)

I'm envisioning a metallic gold-flake paint job with a textured black top, but not vinyl.  PPG and House of Colors have some trick paint set-ups that give a textured surface.  It'll have probably 17 or 18 inch wheels, silver or polished aluminum (I've seen too many Chrome wheels falling apart) 5 or 6 spoke, but NOT the Crager look that (no offense) every other muscle car has.  She will be lowered, but not slammed.  I think I've finally convinced myself that I'm going to have to run different tire sizes - front and rear - as much as I don't want to do that.  (Can't rotate, always buying new rear tires - gets expensive.  Oh well.)  Oh, and I'm keeping the 340 hood on it - not going with a shaker.  I like Dave's setup - 440 under the hood, but you can't tell.  Granted she won't LOOK like a sleeper, but she's going to have that concept.

My current idea for my license plate?  "440IBLT"

I've thought about "Golden Chariot" (no golden shower jokes, please,) "Golden Oldie," also things like "Home Grown 440."  I took some pretty heavy Mythology classes in college (not necessarily by choice,) but Gold is a big color when it comes to religion and Greek Mythology.  So I thought of things like "Zeus's Mopar," "Golden God," or the like....

Of course for as many times as I have and will be asking all kinds of questions on this board, names like "Golden Annoyer" could probably work too.  :)

What do YOU think?

Apollo , the Sun god, brings life-giving heat and light to Earth, in your case the rear tires.  :burnout:

"The Gold Car"

Sorry, I dont name my vehicles.  I dont want to get attatched, you never know when someday you may need to get rid of one.   :'(

"My orange car"
"My white car"
"My blue truck"

Those are mine, but I dont know.

If you are going custom plates, I would do something only somebody clever could figure out.   Yours is easy, to some.

Try,

"AUFISH"

And no, its not aussie fish.  See if you can figure it out.   ;)

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Aw D@mnit!!!

AUFISH is great NOW that I get it!!  I was racking my brain thinking of what A-U could stand for - can't believe I missed that one.  (Obviously more in tune with Mythology than I am SCIENCE...  ...and I'm building an engine...  Guess I'd better start praying...)

'course now I don't want to use it because I didn't think of it on my own.  :)

BUT, how 'bout "GOLDMEMBER" from the Austin Powers movies...  :)

Yeah I guess I am...   ;D

I saw Golden Rod too - I was thinking about that one...

I really like AUFISH as a license plate...  I just always felt license plates were best as a statement - like bragging rights.  Like "URSLOW" and "VETKLR" - all the Viper ones I read from magazines "FASTASP" "FSTRNU"

I thought "440IBLT" makes a statement - this is my car, my engine - I built it.  Granted I don't think it looks as good as I had pictured it...

I always wanted one that read "VPRSNXT" for my Dodge coupe.  But now knowing how much this 'Cuda's gonna cost me over the years, it should probably read "CDANSTD"   :)

The ability to destroy a Chevy is insignificant compared to the power of the Force.

Coudln't resist

I vote or GoldMember. It is funny but neat sounding.
Have you thought about a name incorporating "Sol" (Spanish for Sun). Sol Survivor? Sol Surfer, Camino del Sol?
