HooD - is that the factory Gold option?  'If so, then that's how my dad's car looked when he bought it.  He had it repainted a brighter shade, which is probably what I'd do.  Since my car already isnt' the factory white (and I heard that the factory white was kinda drab) then I'm not really worried about going factory colors anymore.

Jeff
My Cuda was repainted in 1975 the exact same color.  And yes, the gold color JY6 (Golden Haze Metallic) was a factory option. The name Project Gold Fish seems to fit the ticket.  :2thumbs:

Is that a vinyl top?  That's almost exactly the look I want, except that I don't want the actual vinyl.  I'm also thinking I want the hockey stripe with "440."  Or I could go like Cuda Guy and put "GOLD FISH" in the stripe.  :)

I wanna see your car in person sometime.  It looks really nice.  The black wheels look much better than I thought they would, too.  All the other black you have goin' makes it work.

My top is vinyl.  What are you using on the top if you're not using vinyl?   I think the "440" hockey stripe would be a great choice.  I have tried to use gold and black as much as possible with my Cuda through the years.  My ET mag wheels were originally dark grey until I painted them black in 1973.  The second picture was taken after painting them and before I bought the L-60X14 rear tires.

I really like those mags, hooD!  :grinyes:

I almost got a set like that a couple of months ago but they had the wrong backspace and I think they were GM bolt pattern.  They were made by Keystone though.  Looked real nice, came on a set of Concorde Trac-Action bias plies, don't see those any more, rears maybe L-50s I think?  They were wide, only for $100 too for everything.  They were sitting in someones basement for a while.

HooD,

House of Kolors makes a paint material that sprays on thick and then leaves a textured look, almost like concrete, in whatever color you choose.  I don't want vinyl because of the rust issues it can create, also 'cause of shrinkage and all that stuff you can get (MEK you know all about shrinkage, right?)

I haven't tried pricing it out yet, but when it comes to paint and body work, what's another few thousand, ya know?

Jeff,
The factory vinyl top on my car is still original with only minor issues at back window. I am going to say quarter size or less in 2 spots. Not to bad for 38 years. The only problem with what you are plannig on using is that it may not have the desired finish yo uare looking for once you are done. I would try to spay a test roof on a junk car or try to find one painted with it already.

Jeff,
So I'm thinking, the stuff you want to spray on your roof, is similar to the spray (rhino bedliner spray) that is used on pickup trucks as bedliners, just not as agressive in texture.
Pottstown Cuda makes a very good point.  Test it out first if you can.

I just googled HOK http://www.houseofkolor.com/hok/index.jsp and they have tons of stuff.  Looks like you have done your homework!

Black roof.  It'll look like vinyl from a distance.  The only thing I haven't decided yet is if I want a satin finish or a full-clear-coat finish.  Slightly shiny verses very shiny...  You can get satin-finish clears from HoK, which I'm sure can spray right over the textured paint.

Yes there will be LOTS of test panels, because I also need to test the amount of flake, if there's going to be any pearl, etc.

WyoTech went into paint pretty extensively, though I didn't get to lay much down (I was too busy building the body kit for my coupe from scratch.)  But I did absorb a decent amount of information.  All I can say is paint is cool - fun too.  Body work sucks, paint is cool.  :)

Have you thought about painting the roof on in stages............. :dunno:
Mask out the middle and spray the sides to duplicate a vinyl roof and then after it dries you could mask out the sides and have an overlay build up to simulate the vinyl seams of the vinyl roof joins. :2thumbs:
