Keep us posted on the roof replacement.

Oh man I don't envy you at all. That's a lot of spot welds to do.  :faint:

:droolingbounce:What really gets me all excited is drilling all those spot welds.  :woo: Not!!!  That rusted up peice of crap is coming off on way or another, and i don't care how many peices it ends up to be.  :swear:With my luck the new one won't fit :roflsmiley:

Does anyone know if any one has grafted a 'Cuda roof to a Challenger before or vise versa  :dunno:

Maybe someone could photoshop some pics for us all to see. :picture:

Since you are getting rid of the old roof, I was just curious how the passenger side front piece is.
I have a few holes in my roof also.
I can get you a pic of the exact spot I am talking about.
Just a shot in the dark hoping maybe yours would be good in that spot?

Send me a pic of the area. I highly doubt there is any good metal in mine, except out in the middle. If i would have continued patching, the patches would have went completely around the edges. And i patched on some of it, and it looks like crap. Its hard welding 20 gauge to paper thin metal, and even harder getting the surface rust free to weld to.

Yea, I figured that not much would be left of your roof, if you are replacing it, but I guess it was worth a try.
Here's the pics of where I was talking about.
I have much more severe rust around the front, and rear channel also  :crying:

After you're done getting it all on do you plan to lead the seams or bondo them?

Well, that's depressing news.  :'(
Maybe I should consider changing my roof also   :banghead: :pullinghair:
Do all the roof lip edges look good on the new roof you got?
It's kind of hard to see from the pics, but I had to cut out most of the rear channel, and without a doubt I will have to do the same to the front  :crying:
Was yours like this?
I'll take any advice you could give  :1zhelp:
Thanks

MY Cuda is in the body shop, and they are working on the roof. The front of mine is good, but the back isnt. I bought a spare roof, and they are going to cut the back skin of it off to use on mine. The whole roof looks solid on the outside, but the inside is pretty rough. If there is anything left of the front when they are done, I'll let you know.

If all the rusted areas are primarily the widow channel across the front or back, i would consider continuing patching. Have a metal shop bend you some 90 degree angle to fit along there. I did some of mine and it was a lot easier to patch there than into the roof or down the sides. Too many angles, bends and very difficult getting the right look down the sides. It is a little hard to fork over 599. + 125 shipping for a new roof, but when you get it you know you did the right thing for your car. I was worried that i would never be able to get all the rust taken care of in mine. If you can hold out for 2-3 weeks untill i can get mine put on, to see how it works out and fits, that might help you make a clearer decision. here are a couple pics of the fron and back of mine.

Those two pics of mine do not show very well the amount of rust through. On the front channel, the upper side is completely gone in places like yours, and the sheet metal going back is paper thin. I think those vinly tops must be like a big sponge, when they get wet they hold moisture across the whole roof. i tried brushing the surface rust also, and the metal is pittied very deep. If you don't get the rust out of those pitts, it will be back.
Good luck, hope this helps in your decision.

I just got them in stock on saturday, Have not listed them or posted to my web store yet,  If you want i can bust one out of the crate and post some pics if you want. We have both challenger and cuda roofs in now, as well as all of the glass tinted and clear.
Alot of spot welds about 40 per side but it beats welding and welding up all of the possible bad spot and grinding. let me know.
