440 Source Heads - January 18th?
« on: January 15, 2008 - 03:08:49 PM »
I don't know if that was up there before - 440 Source's page says the release dates for their new heads is January 18th.

Wondering if anyone was planning on picking up a set or not.  It states that the prices are introductory.  I wonder what their intentions might be down the road.

I'm considering them over trying to find a set of used 915's, but I'd love to see some feedback on them first.

I vote yes.  :money: Chryco has to do it again.
Seriously though,  I would be the guinea pig, but it would be at least 18 months until I need heads, so it would be pretty useless to get them now.

I'd get the heads, but I can't afford to have them flow tested and such...  And it'll be a few years before the engine runs to know if they're any good....

Well I could order a set , I have no engine in mind to use them on right now though , I did just order a set of the B1 BS street heads last week , this is the first time I have used the B1 but they are a proven head & very street friendly using std rocker arms & intakes etc ,& should make 600 HP easily
Donations are accepted or if someone wants to buy the 440 Source heads from me after I have a set to look at we could arrange something

That could be a possibility...

From reading what their site says, I'd probably just have a mild porting done to them.  I would probably order them bare though, so that I could put in roller rockers...

i would order assembled heads , this will give you valves , seals, retainers,  locks & springs , you need all of these , the rockers need to be purchased separately & will not be supplied with the heads , the spring will need to be matched to the cam but getting a spring with just over .600 lift capabilities will be needed if we use one of the cams I typically spec out

That makes sense - I was pretty much going to take a machinists suggestion towards spring rates - I don't have the time in my life to go figurin' that science out.  :)

This isn't somethin' you'd be getting next week is it?  I need some time to recoup from purchasing the engine (and the trip to Georgia...)

it doesn`t really make sense to ship them here & pay to import them into canaduh & then ship them back into the US
it is  not like I have spare cash to throw at owning a set right now either but i am curious about them

Ya know, sponsorship is a big thing, especially in the tuner industry from what I've seen.  Honestly, I'm kinda surprised we don't have a representative from 440Source getting on here and communicating with some of the primary buyers of their "stuff."

Has anyone ever tried reaching out to 440 and establishing a relationship?  I mean, this is a major product they're releasing.  Why wouldn't they have guinea pigs already lined up - people to give their product to for some real feedback.  Stereo companies, suspension companies - all kinds of places do this all the time.

Just curious...

Ya know?!  Give 'im the ol' "Let me try a set - if they work good, you can be sure I'll be letting 5,631 people know."

Just a thought.  You've got clout on me or I'd try it.  :)

Jeff

P.S.  I'm not suggesting we try to pull a fast one on 'em, or make a scam or nothing - this board represents a huge potential to them - a value.  I mean I'll say right now that I'm heavily - HEAVILY considering one of their stroker kits.  I haven't heard a single bad thing about them!  I just think it'd be okay suggesting that they give something to us with the potential of receiving a ton in return.  Does that make sense?
