« on: January 15, 2008 - 04:23:14 PM »
I've been searching the web and i have found new repop bumpers for my 73 Challenger at yearone for $265 plus shipping. Anybody know where i can find a better deal? Appreciate all and any links.

I really don't have a recommendation other than Year One. The problem is, there might be a waiting list there. The sad thing is, it will probably cost you more to get your originals rechromed, but at least you know they will fit.

Year One has a back order of about nine months on bumpers.

Year One is always hit and miss. I ordered a set of cuda bumpers from them back in December and they happened to have them in stock. The chrome has a nice reflection and they fit really well, but the chrome plating is wavy. If you want them to be perfect spend the extra money and have yours redone.

Stephens Performance carries original rechromed and repop and they had just got a few pallets in when I went and bought some originals. You may not like the price .  100 buck  or core exchange for the originals

i know of a couple of plating operations near you but i dont know if either has a retail operation.  you might have to find a machine shop that has an account with them to act as a middle man.  youd have to call and find out.  theres southwest metals thats out in the new berlin industrial park ( i think they do some stuff for harley ) (262) 784-1919 and then theres hydro platers right in milwaukee 414-352-6216

Not sure if you feel like driving to Woodstock IL. I haven't used them but I'm going to give them a shot in the near future. If I remember right the pricing was pretty fair. If you happen to check them out let me know if I'm wrong  ;D

www.desertdogautoparts.com   I think they say it's 3 to 6 weeks and they can ship for $50 a bumper if needed.

Thanks for the replies, alpha & 440    I will check out your sources.  Doesn't it seem that it is more difficult to find a good plater than a good body shop??

I've always had issues finding good platers. No sure if it's just me or if it's that difficult. Let me know how things works out for you. Thanks
