make sure the housing is not damaged & the brgs fit tight in the housing
try to get Tapered roller brgs , it means cutting off the factory ones & pressing on new ones to prevent damage to the end plates but worth it over running the Green replacement brgs

loco, I'm talking over my head as I have no experience with bad rear bearings so please defer to someone with experience 1st BUT the shudder you refer to is something I have observed in the past when spinning the rear wheel. I have no idea what causes this but there were no issues with the rear end.
As for replacement parts most of our parts stores list a replacement set with bearings, seals & cups.

Make sure that your axle end play adjustment isn't causing your shake first. Too loose is BAAADDDD!

Glad to hear that you fixed it without having to change those bearings.   When those bearings are too loose, you can hear it by pushing on the side of the car on the rear fender, and rocking it back and forth.

IF you do need bearings the best thing is the newer sealed bearings, It eliminates the adjuster on the left shaft. It is a complete kit to do one assembly 8 3/4 or Dana. c-c members get 10% on most items

Aren't these the same as the "Green" bearings, or are they tapered roller bearings?

Do not use GREEN BEARINGS if you want your car to survive on the street. They will come back to bite you in the middle of nowhere. Those are for drag racing only. They do not have the surface area of the roller bearings on the tapered race.

We have heard of that , of being only for drag racing, we have sold alot of these bearings and haven't heard of any complaint. This is the same bearing that everyone else sells. ??? I would have to check into that.
