solid lifters

  I'm needing to pick up a set of solid  lifters and was looking at Mopar performance which has a sale going on for 6.90 apiece reg. price 8.00. I've never had solid lifters before so don't know a lot about them but in the picture they don't have a oil? groove around the middle of the lifter.Is that normal for solids?  Also I'm getting ready to set up my rockers on my heads.  Crane ductile rockers on new shafts.Should I use the supplied spring to hold them over against each other or should I use a spacer or does it really make any difference? One last thing I was talking about to Daves 70- does a 7 qt. pan hold 7 qts with 1 in the filter or does it hold 6 with 1 in the filter? I guess thats all for now    :clueless:

I would love to reply to this but it took me 20 tries & 10 minutes to open this window , something has to be wrong withthe server or something  :pullinghair:

440Source has set of Solid lifters or the Mopar ones will work as well, the spring works fine to keep the rockers apart , what cam are you looking at using ??
Most 7 qts pans have 6 in the pan & 1 in the filter depending on the type of pan used , the Hemi pan is 6 qt total including filter

I didn't know you could just pop in some solid lifters on an otherwise stock type engine. I thought you had to have a solid lifter cam, valve springs, push rods, etc etc?
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

You can't just pop solid lifters in.  How would you adjust your rocker gear  :clueless: I have a buddy who runs a Hydraulic cam with solid lifters but has all the appropriate solid valve gear to go along with the conversion. :2thumbs:
