Big block engine mount kit for 318 K member
« on: February 09, 2004 - 06:32:38 PM »
In my never ending research to decide the appropriate engine setup for the 318 car, I found a company here in Seattle that produces custom made engine mount kits to fit a 360 (requires a different left side mount), 383, and 440 engines.  The mounting brackets are designed to fit the existing 318 K member.  They come with new rubber isolation pads and bolts for the engine.
The 440 kit is $120.   They also sell trans mount hardware.

Just thought I'd share... if interested I can send contact info.

You wouldn't be talking about Schumacher mounts now would you?

On an E-body you can drop in any engine(other than /6) on the v-8 K member with the respective factory mounts.

Yes... but with a /6 K-frame, you can drop in any small block I believe... ::)

If you want the conversion mounts you can even bolt a big block to the /6 K.

I met a guy who helps mock up the motor mounts for them, he was shoe horning a 440 into a dakota, that was going to go through emissions. He said they put a different carb on and it barely makes it there, then they swap it out.

anyways I have there 360 mounts

Right on, yes.  It is Schumacher mounts.  I was very impressed when talking to the guy there today.   Sounds like a good way to go if you dont have a spare K laying around.

BTW....  the small block guys are becoming convincing.....  I'll have to update my poll post in the next day or 2 when I get some info from a local mopar head who's got connections...   ;D

I checked out the suspension kit tonight...  all looks good.  Performance Suspension actually sells Energy Suspension poly components... but on the package it doesnt say Graphite impregnated anywhere....  only on P.S.'s add does it say that..  should I call or be concerned?

I think all the poly components are Graphite pregnant!  Maybe Performance didn't think it's important enough to advertise or feel that not too many people even know what it means!  8)
