Russo-Steele

http://www.russoandsteele.com/

I know the owner very nice guy, his name is Drew Alcazar he was a car restorer specializing on Fords, he has very well known because one of his restorations a 69 Mach 1 with a 428 CJ was sold on the '80 for 30K, the buyer was  at that time the owner of LA times, 30K was a record on those days..he give me an estimate to a partial resto on my '69 428 CJ of 10K, his shop was on Pomona CA.
The only thing that I don't know why the name of Russo and Steele :clueless:

Black/black 4 speed numbers matching Hemicuda went for $ 245,000. I can't see another one going for more unless it's a 71, and didn't see any 71's in the lineup.
70 black/black "R" Code Hemicuda, automatic, Super Trac Pac 4.10 Dana, pdb
67 Top Flight Corvette 4 speed silver small block #s roadster
2002 6 speed silver Pontiac Trans Am SLP Firehawk
2008 Red Z06 Corvette
2002 Blue Lexus SC-430 retractable HT- Wife's car

Exactly! Nothing to sell that would indicate what a car at the top of the market might bring, they made 666 70 Hemi Cudas and 107 1971's, roughly 5x's fewer and far more popular...A 71 would likely do MUCH better. Not to mention any unknowns about the black car that sold, I haven't seen it in person but if there are any mystery's to it concerning documentation or condition not being divulged on TV but obvious to buyers on hand, it could held back the price on that example.

There is a solution to the no reserve policy-
bring along a friend.
If your car doesn't reach what you want, have your friend bid, and all you lose are the auction fees- at least you don't take a bath.

And make sure your friend is not in the bathroom when your car rolls around, lol.

I heard that the fees are 10% for buyer and seller both. You could be paying some big money if you do that. Lets say that you have a car you want $120k for, and it only makes it to $90k. You would have to pay $18k in fees just to get it back. So in other words, it just cost you $18k to put your car in a BJ auction and not even sell it. I guess it would make sense if the bids only got to $50k, but it would still cost you $10k to save the car. That is why BJ is starting to lose customers, because it too costly if the car doesn't meet expectations. He's just in it for himself, and he wins no matter who else loses.

Low mileage Hemi Charger 500 for $165K, AAR NOM for $90K, another AAR for $110K & a low mileage FK5 hemi cuda for $150K are just indicators of the recession that's hit the country.  Seems its a buyer's market not only in real estate, but in collector cars, too...and the guys w/ the money know it.  Saw rare Chevy's going for low $$.  A low mileage Boss 429 hit the high of $325 or close to that.  IMO, muscle & collector car values cycle.  Ebodies seem to have plateaued, but  matching #'s Ebodys, especially the 4 spds will appreciate in the future.  If the economy was booming as it was a a few yrs ago, I think the values would be back up there.  Personally, its a good time to buy.

Okay, I just need to get this off my chest:  I'm pathetic  :ylsuper: .  I will be out of the house this evening, so I am going to record about 6 hours worth of B-J so I can speed through it tomorrow to catch a number of the high profile auctions.  I think my wife thinks I have lost it.  I think I have to agree.  :pullinghair:

Well, a low price for a 70 Hemi Cuda, yes, but a steal? I;'m not so sure about that. An middle of the road less than popular color and who knows what history it has, body & paint quality, or authentic parts (or not) used when it was restored. I would'nt be so quick to say it was a "steal" without seeing it in person.

I do believe a 71 hemicuda (blue/black) went for 345K at RS yesterday. A friend of mine had a 70 Challenger R/T 440-6 4 speed super trac pak car at RS yesterday...dont know if it met reserve or not.

Seems to me the better Mopars are at RS.

A lot of people better like what they bought last year, because they're either going to lose a lot on them if they sell, or are going to have to keep them for a long time.

:iagree:   I would hope that they do not buy them just to sell them again.
