Here in PA, everything pretty much closes down in the Sept/Oct time frame, and doesn't start back up until March/April. I was just wondering how it goes down south. Do people keep their cars out all year long? Are there cruises, shows, and swapmeets all winter long?

I am not sure but sure seen a lot of cars out last weekend.  Not got mine ready so have not kept up with everything going on.  I will have to watch this post though to see other responses.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Down here in north Texas (Dallas area), it kind of slows to a trickle around Nov/Dec, with maybe 1 or 2 shows a month, up until March, when it picks back up, again.  We can drive the cars pretty much year round, with the occasional freeze like we have now, but in a few days it will be in the 50's again.  We also have a big Autorama in the middle of February (Dallas Mopar club hosts it), along with a couple of swap meets, so it's pretty good.  I know that down around the Gulf Coast it does pretty much go year-round

In south Florida there are shows all year long.  July and August are slow because it is too hot.  We live on the opposite schedual of you.  We wait until winter to do things.  A heat index of 90 degrees at 9 o'clock at night makes it tough in the shop.  I and many I know do as little as possible outside in July and August.  Others run central air in the garages to do stuff.  Many people get heat stroke here if they are not careful.  Overall we do have more time to enjoy car activities here in the south.

Gulf Coast Mississippi and New Orleans area has some cruises and things but the very biggest thing is Cruisin the Coast on the MS Gulf Coast in Oct. It is bigger than HotRod Power Tour. Last year I think there were 5000-6000 cars here for the whole week.
After that the shows kind of stop but the avg. winter temp. is approx. 65-70 degrees and rainshowers are sparse. But the cruises go all year. One cruise we go to in Slidell, LA (1/2 way to NO) happens every 2nd Sat. all year long no matter what, except for Cruisin' the Coast or if it just happens to rain pitchforks and puppy dogs.
It is getting a little too cold here though. I am thinking about moving to Orland, Fla. it has been in the upper 80's there lately. :)

I could use some upper 80's as it is 18 degrees right now and not even going to get above 19 degrees today. My Challenger and Cuda are in the garage and it's only 38 degrees in there which is cold but I never let it get below 32.

I really don't mind the off-season from cruise-ins that we have in the North. It just makes them even more special when they start back up again in a few months. Plus the off-season gives me time to tinker.   :working:

In southern California we have swap meets and shows year-round.

Some of the more popular ones are;

Pomona swap meet http://www.pomonaswapmeet.com/
This is the largest swap meet in southern CA and features all brand.  Although it is somewhat limited on E-Body stuff, you can find some good bargains if you walk the back isle.

Long Beach Hi-performance swap meet https://www.toppingevents.com/ecology_meet.asp Great for hi performance engine parts.

As well as numerous car shows.

Car shows/cruise-ins run from March to October.  We are only about 8 weeks away from starting them up again.    :woo:     :cooldancing:

Austin, TX just had a big car show this weekend Saturday and Sunday were nice sunny, but cold days... mind you cold is a relative thing, it was in the 40s (I was 33 years old when I saw snow for the first time ).  This week is cloudy and rainy so I don't think I"ll be taking my car out of the garage.
