Just got my new gas tank
« on: January 19, 2008 - 01:22:09 PM »
Just got a new Spectra tank for my 73 Cuda, seems to be a galvanized steel construction.  Should this be painted prior to install? .....on another thread was mentioned to NOT paint your tank black because could cause vapor lock since black could cause tank to heat the fuel? should it then be some 'color'  to reflect the heat??  or is this a non issue??  only want to do this once......thx

That would be a good move because they do like to rust.

I put one in a customers car 4 years ago figuring the galvanizing would protect it , it has started to rust & we live in a dry climate ..Cold but dry
