70 Challenger Convertible 6.1 Hemi NEWBIE
« on: January 19, 2008 - 02:31:16 PM »
Ok newbie intro…    :blah:
70 challenger convertible in Kansas City area…
Car started life as a 383 auto with air and SE molding and RT options (boy that chrome is hard to find)
Painted it 3 years ago viper race yellow ,black top and interior,
I am installing a 6.1 hemi with a 5 speed, Alterktion front suspension and coil over rear from AirRide.
Motor been in and out several times working out all the little mods… using Mopar AEM ECU and wiring.
I guess its pro-Turing or restomod or whatever the new buzz word of the day is…
Factory AC box adapted to the new stuff, Mod, adapt and more modifying of parts…
I am using a 727 for startup & setup, and then adding the 5speed. Some frame stiffing with sub frame connectors and bracing. So far any way….
I have already encountered much kindness and a willingness to help.
THANK YOU TO ALL ON CUDA-CHALLENGER.com

That doesn't look like an Alterkation underneath that 6.1L.

Welcome to the site!  Your project looks awesome and will be very cool when it's back on the streets tearing it up!!! :grinyes:  So did you go with a larger cam or keep it to factory specifications?  Either way, I'm sure it'll be a blast to get good gas mileage and have all that power on tap.

That doesn't look like an Alterkation underneath that 6.1L.

no its the original K frame I started with and discovered I needed to change directions.  :bricks1:

I will post new photos soon. I just wanted to get some pictures posted.
I will be starting a section in the  resoration project area soon also.

Welcome to the site. Just a word of advice about mocking up with a 727 and then trying to change to a 5 speed. If you are going to use a Tremec (Kiesler TKO600) or something like that you need to mock the car up with it attached as you will most likely have to cut the tunnel hump. If you are going to use a stock 883 there should be no problem.
