All you need is a time machine and the cash;

Dang but I miss 1974........

Sure, I was only 7 years old then, I still miss it.

Yea that was a year out of High School for me.  Miss the prices but even at that price it was out of my range at the time because of the wages at the time..
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Hey Al,  You were making more than I was.  Grew up in a small town with low economy for sure and not many jobs to be had.  I went to work and to college so I did not make a lot right after High School.  I graduated in 73 also.

I worked for 2.50/hr for my dad growing up at our service station. Bought my first car cash, 71 demon 340 $5500, thats a lot of hrs...LOL. Think I made 4.00/hr after the first year or so, but I saved for a good couple years.    :bigsmile:

Oh yeah, that was 1993-96   :roflsmiley:

Now if I could remember who borrowed my time machine, I would travel back and buy a gross of them and give them away as Christmas presents.   :misbehaving:  :roflsmiley:

It reminds me of a date that is black spray painted on a wall in the mine I work at. It is what is called a stop face where mining is stopped and moved somewhere else. It is right off the roadway and I see it every day. I often fantasize about what I would do if I could go back to that date. 4-12-71. I would be ordering myself a convertible 'Cuda is all I can say  :drool:

I lived in Greenville Mi back then. Town of like 7k , went to MSU for 6 months then Montcalm comunity college for a yr. Times were very tuff back then, but I would love to take a time machine back there and beat up the varsity wrestler that would always pick on me because I played baseball instead of a tough guy sport :banghead:

How much should one expect to pay for a 340 today?  I have been told that if you have a good original it would be better to put it on a shelf and put in a 360 in for your driving needs.

Me too,  I graduated in 1973 had street raced for a couple of years with my '70 383 Cuda and in 1976 went to work for a Chrysler/Plymouth dealer until 1978 left went back in '79 thru '81. I don't remember how much I was making but I did work day & night to support my bad habit of Super Stock racing... Yep,  to be young again and work 16 hour days.

If I had known what they would cost today I would have bought one or two. I could have bought at dealer cost.  It is hard to see in the future and know what you should do.  At the time it seemed that they would be available for ever.  Long gone now and just a memory.  I am glad the cars are still here and doing well.  I am so glad the even younger guys are taking an interest although it seems most want to change too much IMO.  I just hope they think about what they are doing.  I know that guys get tired of there projects as I did in the past and wanted something different.  It was easy to find the cars you wanted back in the day.  There seemed to be a lot of really nice cars around.  And there are still a lot of them in my home town area.  I was blested in a way that most aren't today.  Most of my friends were and still are mopar nuts.  I have seen and driven a lot of very nice cars and owned several myself.  I just hope our cars stay with us and get even more popular even though they are not as easy to find now as they were back in the day.  Just some thoughts   Gordon
