Anyone Else live on a Dirt Road?
« on: January 21, 2008 - 01:38:07 PM »
As I chugged along at 10 MPH yesterday, I wondered how may others have to deal with living on a dirt road. It's difficult to keep a nice finish given the dust. And a clean undercarriage is virually hopeless. A couple days after a rain it's not bad but those days are far and few between. Not a big deal given she's a driver now but if I ever decide to restore it I would need to come up with something else.

The only other options I can think of would be to move (that won't happen), or get as many neighbor's as possible to pitch in and pave the road. I have thrown that idea out to a few of them and the respose has been "dream on".

 Any ideas.

I`ve been in that situation for 8 years.  It was a bad bad road :bricks1:
the dirt really kills a car.  My former neighbour dumped a couple truckloads of graffle on the dirt. This made it possible to reach the house by car in the wet season, but it thrashed the cars even worse :faint:   I have moved a few years ago, but had I still lived there I would have bought a tractor and a car trailer to get the cuda clean onto hard surface

I live on a deadend dirt road. But I like the quiet. I don't like the dust or the wash board bounce

I like the quiet also that's why we are 1-1/2 half miles up, but not at the end. The washboard is brutal now since several new neighbors built further up the road.

The trailer ideas sounds reasonable Dutch. Alot of loading and unloading though. How easy is that?

It looks like there could be some nice trails up there. You should get a lifted golf cart or ATV and have some fun. It will help you enjoy the dirt road, but the car will still get dirty.

I guess you could make it as easy as you like...I would go for a trailer that has the entire bed tipping over electrically...roll on roll off  :bigshades:

I refused and will not live on a dirt road just because of the cars and the hassle it would be.  We have alot of dirt roads around me as I live in a pretty rural area that has alot of farm land and country areas.

I live on a dirt road. :pullinghair:  I love the quiet  , but I hate putting along at 10mph in the Cuda, down the 1 mile of gravel to get to the pavement. But when I do finally reach the pavement, it's all... :burnout:

It does seem like it takes forever. Especially after enduring some down time.
