Yeah, I guess I'm stereotyping a little too much. As you say, to each their own. If it makes power and it's Mopar I'm all for it. Just get sick of seeing $1,500 cars with big chromes, NOS and a big wing down here is all, puts me off NOS, guess I would have to go for a ride in a V8 car with NOS to feel the rush.

Cheers,
Carl

I can tell you the first time i put spray on my 440 with a 100 shot cheater plate system i had a smile that didnt go away for a week.  It was GREAT that was in the earily 90's when i did that modern systems are tons better.

Just go get your hands on some medical grade n2o... :grinyes: Makes about double the power automotive grade does..

I've read in a few locations that this isn't true...

It's funny how Nitrous is always thought of as an import thing just because of a couple "Slow and Curious" Oh I mean "fast and Furious" movies.  Back In the 80's  before there were "Ricers" there was more than a few muscle cars around here running Nitrous. It was the great equalizer. small block with a bottle could hold it's own against a well built big block, a turbo or a car with a blower. If you put it on a built up big block , well you pretty much slapped everyone around.
Now all I see at the track is a bunch of light weight 5.0 mustangs hauling a$$ running a turbo, a blower or a bottle.
Stroker toss a bottle on it. Like they say "Fight fire with fire"

The main difference between medical grade and regular "auto use" nitrous is the auto use has something put in it so you can't inhale it and abuse it.

Just to clearify, there are heaps of rice cars down here, American iron is rare. I'm sick of seeing them and there bottles, that's the reason I think it's a rice thing. I see them like I see walls, everywhere.

Not because of any "movie". Just had to make that clear.

It's been the same over here, lately though there has been a surge in muscle cars driving around  :ylsuper:
My comment wasn't really directed at anyone, it was just a overall blanket statement because alot of the Ricers around here think they actually invented running "NOS" (I hate when they call it that) in cars.

Stroker,

I'm sure I missed this elsewhere, but what exactly are you building this for?  Is it strictly strip (which it appears,) or are you trying to keep it somewhat driveable?

I'm really just curious.  I really don't know that much as far as building/prepping a car for strictly racing.

Stroker is a motorhead...  ( I mean that in the nice way)...   :grinyes:  He won't be happy until he is running in the 7's with his hair on fire....     :burnout:    :ylsuper:    He should have bought that funny car of Mike Ashley's that sold at B-J Auction for $135K.  That should have fixed ole Stroker right up...    :2thumbs:

I just cant see payin $7000 for the procharger I want and take me to 1200HP  :scared: and just cruisin around mostly.... I would rather have the HEAT on a switch... Im an all motor guy but to have 200+ more HP on demand is nice and waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy cheaper.... Everyone else is running power adders these days so why not  :naughty: and I may hardly ever use it either....  :working:

The small block stangs etc... need all the power adders they can get just to keep up with me!!! know when I drop the bomb back its  :horse: time

I would rather lose to a car with power adders than use it myself.  IF a power adder car was to outrun me, I'll tip my cap to them...     :grinyes:   BUT, I know that if they ran me motor for motor, they couldn't outrun me....    :grinno:   Plus, it's extra sweet when I take my all motor car and kick their power added butts....     :burnout:    :cooldancing:

Me,being a nitrous user (when my car was together) would not consider it a win over a car if it did not have NOs also. But all the people I hung out with that had hot rods had NOs,if you didn't run it,all you got to do was watch. It makes a milder street engine able to move up in the ranks in terms of who you got to to play with. An exciting race is when a NOs car goes up against an NOs car.

I've been taught it is true, my backup for it is below.

The main difference between medical grade and regular "auto use" nitrous is the auto use has something put in it so you can't inhale it and abuse it.

The difference between the two is Sulfur. Sulfur is used in the automotive grade n2o, it acts as a buffer to slow down the flame front, helps resist detonation, and also so knuckle-heads dont get high off the stuff. Medical grade Nitrous Oxide does not have sulfur in it as that buffer, therefore making it more volatile. . . .and you get the giggles  :screwy:
