Custom Tag Verification Help Needed
« on: January 22, 2008 - 05:58:12 AM »

Hey guys, namely Barry LOL. Can you please check over my custom tag to see if you spot anything that is incorret for the code. I'm 98% sure everything is right and in order (bottom to top, left to right) apart from the main body and engine codes etc. It's a custom one with all the options Madeline will be having. The spaces are correct, 26 across, 6 lines with line 2 having the 1st and last 2 spaces ready for the screws. Anyhow, the special order options were obviously not for these options but they aren't broken down so fit nicely with the car. Thanks for the help.

Cheers,
Carlwalski

I'm sure it's correct, just need someone to verify everything is fine before I go ahead and get the tags made.

Thanks mate for the "all clear". I'll do as you say and wait for Barry to confirm.

 He sure can, I've always said he's that good he knows what time factory workers took breaks......  :lol2:

Carl,
It is a custom tag, therefore it says what you want it to say. There is no way to "verify" a custom tag as anything but custom.  ;)

As far as breaks go, only when their coffee lead them to the associated bathroom break.  ;)

Hey Barry, sorry, you kind of misunderstood my "verify" lol. What I mean is can you make sure the codes I have match the item? Like V6X = Billboard etc etc. I just don't want a code on there that says something and it's got the wrong item # lol

I appreciate the help.

Hey Carl, would the Y39 be position directly above 999 paint code? That location is usually your roof color, maybe that should be up near the top or something.   :clueless:   Unless you have a full tag and that is the only spot.

Well spotted Dave, it is something I pondered as most cars have double up code on there. Since I already have V1X and it's not "correct" I didn't want to put it on twice and take up space. I was lucky enough to squeeze everything on there. Again, well spotted mate but I'll leave the sales code in it's spot. IF you spot anything else, just let me know...... ;)

Hey Carl,

If you want people to recognise your car as a Triple Black car even though it is custom Black you will have to do the coding right for it......................

Hey Ken, true but if that can't recognise it as being triple black upon inspecting of the exterior then they would have to blind lol. TX9 would be recognised more but I want the tag to have the correct meanings, as such.

Great idea, NZ!  Looks great!!!!

I remember someone had a fendeer tag that looked legit but somewhere hidden in the tag it said something like "FAKE as one of the codes.  :roflsmiley:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Why is that? :clueless:

Thanks SuperBlue! :2thumbs: I think Larry (71Hemi) had a photo or actually had a tag that was custom.
Hopefully he might see this post and pitch in. It had a code for a Tremec and other bits & pieces.

 :P Hey Carl,

If you put down the paint code as 999 which was regarded as special order, but the color recognised as special order is a Silver Color and anyone who knows what they are looking at will say "hey this car is not coded as a TX9 Black car"  "Must of changed the color from Silver" just my  :2cents: buddy.

:clueless: Huh, I've never seen or heard that the "special order paint" was Silver? Not sure who told you this. I'm not the worst with tags and have never heard of this, not saying because of that it's false but it's not something "people who know will know". Far from it. As far as I'm aware 999 was a special order colour, not meaning any colour in specific, if that was the case, 999 would simply be called = silver or "special silver" not "special order colour".

There were also special order interiors which were down as 888, I doubt these would be a silver option lol. Read this link, good info: http://www.autohobbydigest.com/999.html Besides, those that spot that will see "Madeline" and "XVS" well before the SP tag and will know straight away it's all fun and a custom tag, that was my point. Special order for this tag means "Blackest Black". While it's not correct IMO it's as close to correct for the car as I can get, special order colour is the decoded digits, no mention of sliver, pink or anything else where as TX9 is of course Velvet Black.

Cheers,
Carl
