It was 2 mm (~0.079 inch) thick steel which is hmm, 14 gauge according to one internet ref. It might take to monday before I have time to dig up the photos and post here. Hey Topcat, are yours homemade or original? I cannot tell from the pics. If those are homemade, great job!!

Those are the USA Cartool ones. They're a little better than the XV ones IMO that look identical except the XV Motorsport ones don't have the extra tail piece that comes up on the inside to weld onto the side of the frame.

I have a 70 cuda. It was originally a six cylinder barracuda.  Now I have a 600HP stroked small block, Jerico 4 speed, full thru floor weld in subframe connectors, superstock springs, 4.89 gears and a 14 point rollcage.    Will I get in trouble without torque boxes??   If so, do I need them just at the rear or also the front?    The bottom of the car is finally finished and painted....and it only took me 15 years!  I hate the thought of more fabbing and welding.    Looking forward to some good advice.

With a 14 point cage, no. You've already got more support in it than a set of torque boxes would provide.

I have considered the sub-frame connectors as they worked well when I had my Firebird.  I had a guy chastise me the other day when I told him I was considering installing both boxes and connectors.  He said since the car was a NOM car, it would de-value the vehicle.

if you are worried about numbers atleast fit these as they were available on the Hemi cars, 6 pack cars and convertibles. :2thumbs:
