 :iagree:

Rules around here do not differ between make of car.  They just say if you are caught street racing, they (the City) can crush your car.

The Ricers is what I was talking about and not the Mopars.

Maybe if it was a 10 second Vette, he could have escaped and not met the crusher fate.....     :burnout:     :roflsmiley:   :roflsmiley:       :cooldancing:

That's pretty sad they had stolen engines and other parts in those cars.  It's a shame they crushed them instead of donating them to charity through either straight-up donating them or selling them at auction with all proceeds going to charities... :dunno:

Now if that isn't a deterrent to street racing, what is? I thought Ontario was strict with their I week roadside impoundment, 1 week immediate licence suspension and up to a $10k fine.

He was in the process of outrunning the cops when his motor came apart and he coasted to a stop.

This seems like a bad idea all around.  1.  Why would you destroy something of value instead of diverting that value to a better use.  2.  Historically speaking, siezure of legal goods or property from private ownership has bred abuse of that power in most instances.  3.  By knowing you will be crushing the car, you give great incentive to run at all costs which puts the suspect, the officer, and the general public in greater danger.

In my opinion, there are many better ways of dealing with the issue including but certainly not limited to:

1.  Making the fines prohibitively expensive if you must, instead of siezure and destruction of private property.
2.  Stop shuting down all of the racetracks that give this activity a proper showcase.
3.  Build additional short tracks and encourage their use through affordable entrance fees.
