Let Me know what options you would do first
« on: January 25, 2008 - 01:43:44 PM »
My car is finally to the point where I can think about adding some of the options I may have purchased if I had been around to order it.
The problem is that I am having trouble deciding which things should come first.
I already have the new 15 inch Rallyes, fog lights, gill rockers, red stripe for the grill, and dual painted mirrors ready to go when I bring it out of storage.
Now I have to decide what comes next and the toy funds are not going to get me everything on the wish list.
Below I have listed six items, and would like some opinions as what would add the most bang for the buck.

I know everybody has different ideas, but maybe you could post the items in the order you would do them.  If you would leave them off entirely, let me know that too. Thanks!

Shaker Hood
Elasomeric Bumpers
auto to 4 speed conversion
six pack set up
Rear Go Wing
hood pins

The sixpack is something I would go for as for the most bang for the buck and maybe the shaker and hood pins.   :2cents:
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I would do the 4 spd conversion , most of the rest are easy bolt on cosmetic items , the 4 spd will be the most difficult & the most fun

I like everything in the order that you have it, except the go wing.  I like the deck spoilers.

hood pins (cheap & easy)
4 speed
elastomeric bumpers
six pack
shaker (expensive, so save it 'til last) You can always go back and add it after the car is finished.

No wing (jmo)

:iagree:  I think of all of those things, the 4 speed would add to the fun factor the most, the rest will make the car look pretty, the shaker may add to a little hp and cool visuals, but the 4 speed will make it a different driving experience.  2nd place would be the Six Pack set up.  :grinyes:

4 speed all the way.  Did it myself last year and love it.  Then six pack (I did that at the same time as the 4 speed, but that was part of a full engine swap).  The rest are all more of a personal taste, so no particular order on them.

Here's my idea of the ultimate "factory" toy:

1970 Challenger
Black Paint, Black Interior, no vinyl top
440 or Hemi
Four speed
Shaker Hood
Rear Window Louvers
Rear Go Wing
Front T/A Spoilers
Hood pins
Rally Wheels

Yummy!

13.9 @ 101 with stock internally 440, OD 4 speed, 3.23 LSD

:clapping: It will depend on your budget.

Some of those things will have to be bought in a certain order otherwise you will have to wait before you can use them.  If you go with a 4 speed, now you need peddles and new carpet.  If you go hood pins, you will have to wait until you got your Shaker hood before you can mount them.  But if you go Shaker hood you will have to wait until you buy the Six Pack otherwise the base wont fit.

Maybe go Elastermeric and have them painted and fit the go-wing, buying and having the bumpers color coded will be an excercise on its own.  Depends on your budget.  But a Six Pack would be way at the top of the list.  Actually just bought a Full Six PAck set up from Westoaks Dodge in California.  Great guys their. :2thumbs:

I am not a  "purist", but is your car matching numbers? If so, I would not change a thing. However, if you really don't care, 6 pack and 4 speed is the direction I would lean.
