Jetting Tips for my 750 Edelbrock Manual Choke Carb?

Ok, so a while back i got some much needed pointers on timing, this spring id like to match that timing with some good jetting.

I bought the kit for my carbuerator, and my question is: Can someone tell me what results i can expect with certain changes? for instance: larger metering rods/ smaller jets = bottom end response, or something along those lines

Im just wondering where to start, id like a little more pedal power when i step on it!  :burnout: i wouldnt say im sluggish with the 408 stroker in there, but i think i can get more out of it!  :cooldancing:

Accel pump has three different 'throw' adjustments. Its on the front, drivers side of your carb. Usually depending on your converter/gearing is where you have it. They come stock in the middle, moving the rod more twords the top increases the initial shot, and is short. Middle hole is in the middle. Bottom is a small, long shot. I have a 3500stall and 3.91s, i run mine in the very top shot adj.

Larger metering rods will make your tune leaner. Smaller metering rods richen up. They are probably two step rods. Under cruise/high vacuum the larger part of the rod is through the jet. Hard throttle (low/no vacuum) the thinnest part of the rod is in the jet (more fuel to engine).

As far as the tune, unless you're ready to read plugs, go to the track, dyno, or get a wideband o2 sensor setup (which are awesome), you can't quite say which way to go with your tune that will 'make more power' without knowing where it is now.

The accel pump tweaking can get a little snappier hole shot when setup right.

Very good discription Goody.............

They are a lot like my old motorcross bikes carb,  I have not had a chance to play with these carbs yet but i ave heard good things about them.  And your dicription just simplifies them even more Goody,  thanks mate. :2thumbs:

Edelbrock sells a spring kit to control the metering rods. If they are anything like the TQ, & I think they are, you may want to try a weaker spring if you are running a cam with quite a bit of overlap. The metering rods are effected by vacuum & the more cam overlap you run the weaker your vacuum signal.

Here`s a link to manual instructions, print out these pages and follow the instructions as you tune your carb. I followed them and did the WOT testing on the highway as per the instructions. I bought the tuning kit from Mancini Racing and the improvement of the carb was great. Read and study,  :2thumbs:
