    If the government wants to make a Economic Stimulus Package, why don't they try lowering the cost of gas and maybe we would have that extra money to spend. This $600, or whatever we are getting back, is just a bandade for a bigger problem.
    I will either spend it on my credit cards that I ran up buying my car parts, or maybe a Demon Carb for my 440.

    If $600 is a band-aid, I think they should make it $25k per person and fix the problem.  :roflsmiley:

    Guys, this is just the Man pulling the wool over our eyes again. They raise our taxes, then use "our" money for as long as they want. They don't pay us to use it. Then give a tiny part back and say "look what so and so did for the people". It's all a scam.  :2cents:

    Its not even economic stimulus, strictly speaking. Yeah, its a nice gift, upgrade to the car, etc., but after you make that one purchase... thats it. No more "stimulating" the economy. Tax breaks for businesses and rebates for people, while they sound nice, mask the real problems.

    Hey, in a nation with a -2% savings rate... what else would you expect? :dunno:

     We are getting deep into politics here but I will add this last bit. Some critics say instead of a direct bailout of the banking system, this stimulus is really an end-around way to help get debt paid back to the banks. From what I have seen in this thread many will use the money to pay down credit. These $$'s will make there way to the government's original target the lenders. :2cents:

     The fed rate cut last week was also intended to help the banking system and avoid a major stock market correction. With foreclosures going up they will need a lot more IMO.  :2cents:

    Ok, here is my 2 :2cents:

    This $600 is just window dressing.  Granted it will pay one month of heating oil or the rent.  What we really need is a tax break for the middle class.  We are the largest consumer in this country.  We also need for our wages to not stand still while top execs get large payouts for messing things up in the companys' that they run.  Give companys tax breaks if they create jobs in this country.  I don't mean jobs that you need a secound job just to survive.  Last as for banks and the subprime meltdown, I think they should get what they deserve.  Think about it.  Would you lend money to a stranger that didn't show proof of a job or no true collaterial.  By the way I work for a bank.  Sorry I gave more then  :2cents:.

    I`ll take the high road on this and won`t even get into the amount of taxes I pay and the useless things they go for!  :swear:

    My wife has been eyeing another dust collecter...I mean piece of exercise equipment(she does use them)-a tread mill.
    Me,I`ll buy either Barracuda or road runner parts!    :woohoo:     :burnout:

    Oh by the way I'll be putting the money in the bank.  I'll stimulate the economy with MY own money.  Probably use it eventually for a down payment on a house or something, pay bills, who knows.  Wife says "no car stuff."  I can't disagree.

    They're just going to come up with revision after revision after revision - they're going to have people all over *****ing that they're not going to get something...

    It'll wind up with everyone probably PAYING an extra $200 sometime in 2010...
