The radiator sizes have a lot to do weather the car had Air conditioning as well as engine, more so A/C.  All you can really do is exactly what you already know by the sounds of things.  Measure the opening and if it is 22" you can remove thay side and fit in the new 26" panel for the conversion. :2thumbs:

My 70 came with a 318 4 speed. 22" radiator 2 row. I put a fresh 440-6 in it and a 70 383 4 speed 22" radiator in it but got a new 3 row for the tanks. It doesn't over heat at all, but everything is fresh and new.

They make a new radiator side support that converts 22" into a 26"  radiator opening...welding required :2thumbs:

It is good to see the radiator support conversion pieces.  That seems much easier than the old method of transplanting in a 26" rad support from a wrecked car.
Definitely cheaper too.

Where can we find this part and what does it consist of to change? Just remove spot welds and reweld in the new piece? Does that also cause the radiator to be offset the 4 inches?

I'd stick in a generic aluminum from Summit. I have one from Howe that cost me about $250 for my 496. Rarely have to turn on the electric fan.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

My car still has the 22" rad opening too.  I got a custom built aluminum radiator from mancini racing, and it is awesome.  The car has a built 340 and has never gone over 180*, even when idling for extended durations of time, or when cruising along at 4,000 rpm.  I have a 4.10 gear, so that still isn't very fast, lol.    I have no shroud and am using a mopar performance viscous clutch fan package and water pump.
