Need help adjusting door glass
« on: January 27, 2008 - 07:57:16 AM »
Fitted the door glass to the Barracuda today and it all lines up with quarter windows and roofrail seals OK, but when I have the doors closed, the window don't track properly and I cant wind them up down without pushing them into place by hand.  Only obvious adjustment for this (they track inside the door profile befor reaching the top) is to adjust the lower mounting points of the runners, but this would then leave a gap at the upper seal???  Any pointers for this?

Hey Mark,

Need a little bit better discription of what is happening with the glass.  It it hanging out away from the body at the top near the seal or not going up while traveling through the motions near the seal.

There are a couple of adjustable braces near the top in the door, one forward one to the rear, that push out against the glass, they should have fuzzies on them...

Thanks IMNCARN82, those pics show a couple of adjustment locations that I hadn't noticed.  I got the windows a bit closer today needing only a slight push out to get them to close the last few centimetres.  Will play with them a bit more but I suspect 40 year old window might contiunue to give me some grief.

 :jumping: Hey Mark,

With all the adjustments,  you should be able to get the glass to fit exactly correct in its location buddy. :woohoo: Good luck. :chatting:

If the slots on the bottom of the door don't go far enough.I've heard you can make them longer.Giving more adjustment.I havn't tried it.Glass can be a pain in the a$$. Keep at it! Take your time,it's more of a process. :bricks1:

I have this problem and the glass is out so I may slot them.  I'm wondering if the other option is to shim the top of the channels inwards???? its a PITA!

Yeah, that might work.Try it and let us know. Good idea! It may pack it off the weatherstripping. :clueless: I had a plastic track guide break in half, jamming the window 1/2 up!  It was bad!!  That was my first experience.  It's tough, you have to just work at it.I had more luck with just picking one side and keeping at it. Try an adjustment, then work them up/down.  Over, and over, and over, and over. Now I got new(er) 1/4 glass I gotta' put in.  :dunno:

The best way is if you have someone to help.

Loosen all bolts with the window up and one person inside the car with the tools,  The other person can hold the glass in position from behind while the rear quarter window is down.  While it is held in the correct place and gapped correctly, the person in side just firmly tightens the bolts and screws.

Good starting point doing it this way, with minor adjustments made easy afterwards. :2thumbs:

I had a plastic track guide break in half, jamming the window 1/2 up!  It was bad!!

This is my concern at the moment as one of my runners is already cracked and if it breaks off I could be in the same position - wouldv'e fixed it before now but can't get them in Australia (and I waited severel weeks for the shop to give me that answer also).  Will now have to put the door together to make its debut show and then strip it down again later.

It would be easier to fix it now.I have some extras. Would you like me to send you one? Robert.
