Looking for an E......finally!
« on: January 28, 2008 - 09:43:28 AM »
Well, its been nearly 2 years since I had my last E body, shouldn't have let the one I had get away in the first place. I am finally in a position to start looking for a car. I came across a few in the last 2 years, but timming or available funds stepped in the way.

I am looking for a 70-71 Cuda/challenger. My price range is up to 35K. A 4 spd is a must for me, so if the car is 35K, it has to be a 4spd with no issues...if its a clean auto, it would have to be no more then 30K so I can do a swap.

It doesn't have to be a numbers car, but has to have a fender tag and body numbers matching. I'm cool with clone's that are done right. T/A's and AAR clones would be my preference, but they don't come along too often.

No Green, browns, gold, exteriors or interiors. High impact color prefered.

If anyone knows of a good car, i'm all ears, I have searched the internet high and low for months, the few good deals I did find sold within days, or were priced just out of my budget. I've been told and am convinced that 35K will buy a good car, but haven't found many yet. I will NOT buy another car without having it checked out either, so ideally someone who knows the car, or is close enough to inspect for me (I will compensate).

If I can't find an E body i'm happy with for 35K by spring, I will probably buy something else. I dont' feel like going another summer without a car, so might as well get the ball rolling and start looking for one now.

Too bad it was a '73, I see you are looking only for the big block years.  I'll do some searching.  I'm assuming that you'd have to have it shipped, too, right?   :dunno:

I talked to Dave about that car, I was considering that one, beutiful car. But it sold yesterday. Shipping and import fees/taxes are gonna be close to $5K, thats why $35K is a safe max I can spend on a car (unless our dollar drops too much)

Hey Dave,

I'm really sorry that one near me fell through.  I thought about you this weekend as I drove past the exits for Northumberland and Watsontown.  I wish that would have worked out.

I'll help you out if anything else in the area shows up!

Haha, he didn't mean it Dave, a Cuda is a Cuda, the later ones just had smaller hearts.   :2thumbs:

If anyone has good sites feel free to post them up to. I pretty much check the main ones on a daily basis, Ebay, craigslist, cars-on-line, Autabuy, cudaworld, dealsonwheels, oldride.com.....

As I find cars that i'm intrested in, i'll post pics here for everyone to look over and give opinion. And if anyone sees a car, feel free to post a link here,  i'd rather keep this thread active rather then have it burried in a few days.   :2thumbs:

I MAY consider some B bodies, like 71 superbees, GTX, i'm not real familiar with them, but there are some I really like. Especially the curious yellow ones.

Haha, I would have taken that one off your hands anytime.   :2thumbs:

When I showed my dad your 'Cuda and said it was for sale, he was like "How much, where is it?"   :roflsmiley:

I told him, and I also told him it was a 340 4 speed.  "I could drive that I suppose" he said.    :smilielol:

I told him it was sold, he was bummed.

It was said that his 'Cuda's heart grew three sizes that day....

If you are considering b bodies,  35 would probably buy you a nice numbers 69 383 super bee or a nice 440 six pack clone.  To me, the 69 coronet would be a more desirable b body then the 71.

That 73 was very nice.  I took a look at it but never pulled the trigger. To me, it was well worth the money.
