What would you estimate the labor cost would be for frt end rebuild?

I just finished completely rebuilding my front-end and converting from drum to 11.75 discs.  I replaced every single component that could be.  This included the hard brake lines & torsion bars.  It probably took me +40hrs working part time at nights and weekends.

What would you estimate the bill would be if I had to pay a shop?  My initial guess was maybe 20hrs @ $50/hr = $1000.  What do you think?

Prolly in the neighborhood of $750-900 dollars at the shop I work at in Ga.  A good front end man, with proper tools and a lift can get that done fairly quickly if all the parts are at hand.

I would think it shouldn't take more than 10hrs labour.

I am assuming you took the time to clean up and refinish the reuseable parts right?  The repair shop would surely do it faster, but they wouldn't refinish anything.

All the detail work is what ended up taking all the extra time.  Once I took something apart, I would see something else that needed attention.   Try replacing the hard brakeline that runs across the firewall with the engine still in the car.   

Now that I did it once, it would definitely be easier a 2nd time.  It was a good learning process and I know all the little things are right.

I know what you mean.  I think that is how most full restorations get started.  Something simple needs replacing and you think-- Im not going to bolt it onto the greasy looking part next to it.  Pretty soon the whole car is in pieces.

   you start with something then keep seeing other things that need your attention.  I can hardly wait to get started and do the whole car.  Will make a plan while I am away and what to order list for it also.
