One for the Road - 1970 Challenger T/A Clone
« on: January 29, 2008 - 09:51:27 PM »
At last!

Well I just turned 18 a couple months ago and decided its time to get all my pics posted up in one thread so I don't get to far ahead of myself.  I sold my 70 Pontiac Lemans a year ago, found an E Body, and now am about 6 months into the restoration.

The car is a 1970 Dodge Challenger, originally a slant six in burnt orange with just about nothing extra except for the light package.

The guy I bought it from didn't have a title or build sheet for the car and basically was astonished when he found out I wasn't parting it out.  I probably should of, it would of been easier.

So I decided to take it, do everything from the ground up and do it the way I want.  I'm hoping to keep it as close to a stock T/A as possible so whenever I mess something up on the "tribute" part, let me know.  I won't try to pass it off as real either, cause I know it won't be close, and I am a mopar enthusiast and value my reputation on this board!

Okay enough talking I'll let the pics speak for the very first post.

Here's the arrival, close to the end of summer 2007...

I do have a vin and fender tag for it, I'll take better pictures of them tonight.  Im not sure how to register it yet, might have to get a title from that alabama place.

I'm hopefully going to paint it either plum crazy or black, depending how good the body work is.  I had plans to do a torque flite 727 with a manual valve body in it, bought the trans, put the shift kit in, but now I changed my mind and am going to do a full manual conversion.  Def doin a black interior

Here's some pics of the parts i've collected and part of the tear down...

I've had the six pack for a couple months now, got it off ebag for pretty cheap.  Here's some more pictures of the car when I first bought it.  Im just gonna throw these on here for nothing more than a reminder to myself. To bad you can't see the birds nest that was in the glove box.  :eek4:
