Different questions (detailing)
« on: January 31, 2008 - 04:04:35 PM »

Hi I am restoring my cuda and doing body work...
My question is the following... : On the door jamb the junction between the sheet metals should be visible or not after painting? I am wondering if this must be be sealed of left as it is... How was it factory original?
Same for the 4 small spots (see picture 1)
I have the same question for the two lines between the rear window and the trunk... should these lines be visible after painting? or sealed?

Thank you very much

As for question #1, those 4 spots should not be there. Im fairly certain my Challenger has a seam on the outer lip(my car is stored elsewhere).

Those seems in pic #2 are pretty much useless. I have them, they looked like that from the factory, but you could fill them in to make it look better.

If you want it to look proper (stock) the seams are visible.

All of the pictured areas are seen, the four spots are the welds that hold the door striker retainer bracket.

put some POR-15 in those filler panel seams. i made that mistake of grinding out the factory caulk and bubbled. definitely use caulk not filler and the seems are visible. I taped mine off and used my finger, after you caulk you will still notice it. otherwise keep the other seams and dimples.

:iagree: With Wally here, Tape it up and use the smallest amount and push it in with your finger.  Just to seal the area. :clapping:
