I'd be interested in seeing the photos also. I'm in the process of making final decisions on tire and wheel combinations for my car. I really like the wheel/tire choice and stance of the Cuda in your avatar photo -- it appears as though your car is lowered. If it is, did you simply adjust the torsion bars on the front to get it down to where you wanted, or did you happen to go with mopar dropped spindles
?

To drop the rear, I used blocks. To drop the front I adjusted the torsion rods. Really, I didn't have to back them off much. I was going from a 14" wheel to a 17". After I put them on, the front was pretty close to where I wanted it already. The look I was after was to have the wheel opening trim right on top of the rim like this guy:

very very nice mike, but I'd be afraid to go that low. I have way too many speedbumps near me. I'm looking to upgrade my 15" weld prostars to 17" TT2s. This is the look I'm going for:

I have 275s out back that barely fit now, and I want to go with 275/40-17s and 245/45s up front. I hope theyre not too short. I dont want the ride any stiffer than I have. Have hemi torsion bars and springs and the car rides as if it has no suspension-very stiff even with the current 60 series sidewalls, so 40s and 45s will probably ride even stiffer.

PERFECT!!! Thanks so much for sharing. The look you have on your car is exactly what I'm hoping for on mine. I was concerned about possibly having to adjust the torsion bars down too far to get the stance I wanted, so I purchased a set of dropped spindles from Magnum Force. They claim these dropped spindles work with Wilwood disc brakes - which I ordered from them also. However, I got it all installed and the brakes don't fit properly on the dropped spindles (but they do work just fine on the stock ones). I'm going to touch base with Magnum Force to see if they can help me with this problem. If not, it's good to know that adjusting the torsion bars to get the front lowered may not be a big deal. Thanks, again!

thanks - I painted the walls and floor about three months ago and now have the aircraft hangar look I was after. Makes it easy to find a screw on the floor if I drop it.   :2thumbs:

Glad to help. For what its worth, the lower profile tires haven't affected my ride quality. Its still a pretty soft ride.

Hey Mike,

I have a question for you regarding the 275's, I'm currently running 245/45/18 in the front and I have a different inner fender well gaping from the outside of the tire to the inside of the fender well. The left side has all the room in the world and the right side is tight. It's a little less than half inch differnece. Did you have any similar issues when putting on wide tires?

I just mounted my two new fronts. 17x8 w/245/45 bfg g-forces.
Looks much better than the 15x8 w/235/60 bfg radial t/a's.
I reversed the left side of the before and after so you can easily see the difference.
I went from 4.5" to 4" backspace to push it out a little further. Hope its not too much for the stock bearings.
Now I need to lower the front about 1'
Any quick advice on adjusting the torsion bars?
Thanks.

My right side fender sits 25-1/4" off the ground, and the left side 25-1/2". Also, my right has about 1/3" negative camber, and the left side none, so I'm thinking if I lower the left side about 1" and the right side 3/4" the camber will be about equally negative on both side, but an alignment ought to solve that. Hopefully theres enough room to compensate. Dont mind a little negative camber, but dont need tire wear issues either.
With a 3/4" drop the top of the wheel will be about 3" below the fender. Perfect look for me, but I have super comp big block headers with about 4-3/8" clearance now at the lowest point, about 30" aft of the front wheel centerline...right where a speed bump would smack it with the suspension compressing off the rebound.
 :22yikes:
With less than 4" clearance with the drop I'm gonna have to tread lightly.

Thanks for the pics Mike.  I love the look of them.  I hope I can get 315s or at least 305s on the 9.5x18" rims I bought.  We'll see.

Tommy, go ahead and lower it as it sits with an airgun, no problems.

But if you need to raise it, be sure and take the weight off the front wheels (stress off the adjusting bolt).  They are a LOT harder to lift the car and I've seen bolts that were sheared off from too much torque.

I had to play with the adjustments on mine to get them even.  Going back and forth from right to left, adjust one side, bounce it up and down, then that changes the other side some.  Bounce it up and down between adjustments, and keep measureing both sides till you get them both were you want them.

Then get it aligned.  Firestone has a lifetime alignment that I've used several times when I make changes to my front end.  Its only about $30 more then the regular alignment, so its definately worth it, if you ever plan on any upgrades down the road.

Anyone know the backspace and biggest tire size you can fit on a 70-74  cuda rear without moving the springs?
Im diggin the 275's up front and looking something to match the rear without moving the springs.Seems there is plenty of room?
