whats the backspacing on your rims challorange? you're running 245/?/17s?

Looking to see when i need tires what i can go with, i'll probably need a shorter tire than my 27" talls. those 275s he is running are only 25.6" tall, that little more helps keep my headers off the ground :D

How about loosening the hinge bolts and pushing the hood down on both sides?

I have spent several hours adjusting the hinges up and down and always end up in about the same shape. At this point I need to know if its the hood or hinges. It has never sat pretty in the hole since I have had the car.

Goody,
I got the 245/45/17(25.5") on the front now and 255/45/17(26") on the rear but was looking at some 275/50/17's(28") or even some 255/50/17(27") if the 275 were too tall.  But I used to have some 255/70/15(29") so I think the height should be fine on the 275's to clear/look good.

AFAIK the rims  4.5"BS ones, I'll have to check it out for sure.

Yup, tough to tell.  Does it lie flat when completly loose?(hinges)  Or does it always pop up on the other side?  I'm guessing the door to fender gaps are good.

Its always popped up, have not tried laying it in the hole loose with the hinges removed. Door to fender gaps are ok, the fender to fender measurements are not parallel and were difficult to get them as good as they are. I need to get the hood closing and fairing in better before I start running down the gaps.

I am thinking the hood may be warped or sprung, there is a spot on the top pass side where it looks like someone tried adjusting it by closing it on a board or something. Looking down the side edge, the drivers side looks to have a different profile or shape than the passenger side.

I should start a new thread on this because I know this won't be easily remedied and may require re-adjusting top side of the fenders.

I don't know about great, but I've been told I think too much. :roflsmiley:

Keep up the great work.  Maybe the hood will work itself out without resorting to major mods.  Either that or you can bolt on an AAR Hood.LOL

BTW I don't have the centering rings for the rims on mine either, doesn't seem to be a problem so far. :dunno:

Mayby slot one side deeper. To allow it to go down? Are they the right hinges?  Mine are all the way down in the engine bay. One of the pivots is worn on mine.

yes, I think mine are too. I plan to pull the hood and hinges this weekend and will start a new thread based on my findings. Luckily, there is a guy on craigslist that has posted a 70 bulge hood that is close to me. May come in handy if my hood and I have irreconcillable differences.  :smilielol:

Hi All,

Is everybody finding matching tires for the front and the back when they go bigger than 15" rims? I was looking at 17's for the Cuda but I'm having a hard time finding the same tread for front. I've got 255/60R/15's on the back now and the car thinks those are slant 6 Dart tires because they go up in smoke with almost any throttle. I was thinking of going with an 18" x 9.5" rear wheel, custom off set with a 285/40R18 which is the same tire as my Shelby GT500. I'd put the backspace at 4.25 or 4.5" with the stock spring location.

Mike, When I got the Cuda back from the body shop my hood was sticking up on the left side in the rear. I adjusted it flat by bringing the hinge bolt towards the front of the car to its highest point in the slot and the rear bolts to their lowest spots in the slots. The left side adjusted much differently than the right. Be careful because you may get it much lower than you want and it could hit the windshield when you close it. But have somebody lift up on the hood while you work the hinges and do one side at a time. So when you look at the slots the front bolt has very little space on top and the rear's have about 1/2". If this fails you can lower the retainer nuts/slots on the inner fender but that's going to take some welding. Good Luck!

Hi Mike, I don't remember if you used the 1" or th 1.5" relocation kit from Dr. Diff.    But I was thinking it was the 1.5".   Do you think you could fit the same tire on the rear with the 1" kit?

Thanks,
Chris

to get the rear of the hood to sit down loosen the hinge bolts & over lift the hood [have someone help ] so the rear of the hinge drops & the front rises snug up the hinge & closse the hood , adjust as nessisary
