This is another what would you do question.

I just had the center egg-crate section of my grill blasted. It looks great, but if I leave it as is, I know it will tarnish again in a few years. Polishing between those tiny squares doesn't score very high on my fun meter.

My outer grill and headlight bezels are argent silver. Since staying stock looking isn't a must, I figure I have 4 options:

#1- paint the egg-crate black to offset the argent silver.

#2- spray the egg-crate section clear coat.

#3- have the egg-crate chromed(my wild idea).

#4- leave it be, and deal with the tarnishing like everyone else.

Obviously I don't know how to set up a poll for you to vote, but I appreciate all the input.

I think I would clear coat it, it looks good and with a coat of quality clear the finish should last a long time. I think chrome would look too bright but it would definitely look different.

Mike I'd go either with black or the clearcoat, which ever you would prefer. I wouldn't want to clean that thing again either

I'd be so impatient I'd probably end up breaking it somehow. I think the chrome would be such a contrast

not to mention expensive.

Don't paint the eggcrate. I don't think it would look right when done. I would just leave it becausr I don't think it is supposed to be shinny. I believe it should look natural.

Mine's black paint but, original w/clear and the argent would now be my preferance. I think the bezels, main grille, and the grate (less the surround) in black would need to be done if that's the look you're after. That's what I have been looking at for years though.

Hey MEK,

Have you thought about maybe changing the grille like below, this would suite your car down to the ground with all the colors blending. And have you got that hood emblem for the hood yet.

Mike,

Go with #4.

If I didn't say that first, you wouldn't think I cared.

I must be getting old, but I always liked the stock look and #2 would be my choice in a flat clear coat.

Hemiken's grille picture is a cool look, too and might be something to consider.

I kind of like bullitt's choice #5. A nice dark graphite would have some contrast. And not show dirt like black.

Maybe the duplicolor wheel black, it's not really black, it's kind of an already specked black.
