Hey Barry!!! some production figure help
« on: February 04, 2008 - 10:53:45 AM »
I know you specialize in the Trans-Am catergory, but i am still wondering if there is a way to get some more info on production of certain options. I assume you would just have to go by a registry, but so far i have not found a
'71 Challenger Registry, only the 70 registry.

I just feel like having my car created this crusade of finding all of the other A078 optioned Formal Roof Challengers

Well, 1970 keeps me so busy that I do not have time to stray into 1971, sorry.

Maybe you should start a 1971 A78 Registry?

A guy I know here has one, he keeps wants me to come look at it..... someday.

But, it has not happened yet.

I had a 71 R/T 340 with A78.  I have only seen 1 other R/T with the A78.  I believe it was a 340 car also. I know Galen has a particular interest in them.  He would be a good source for how many are known.  That is...if you can get it out of him.

I feel really dumb by asking this, but what was the A078 optioned Formal Roof?

Chrysler carried over the S/E small rear window to 71 as A078 option code.

Thats It!!  :2thumbs: I NEVER see them at shows, and i have only seen 1 other in person. And 1 on eBay. Im excited that its so rare, but noone seems to know much about them. Ive done some changes to mine while keeping the old flavor. Id talk to Galen, but maybe he wouldnt care about my car simply b/c I changed the color and engine size....

More likely he won't care about your car unless it was associated with the color green ( $$$$$ )  Good luck with your quest - worst part about the SE back window HUGE BLIND SPOT!  Don't let your wife or girlfriend back the car out of the garage!

This is the only paperwork, that I know where it is, that shows the option. Notice the perforated vinyl headlinner. Wally did yours have an overhead console?  My 71 did not.

The numbers would break down as Challenger, price class low, 2 door rear fixed window coupe (quarter windows).  I am not sure if they were built or how many were built.  I know of a fixed rear window 6 cyl. 71 Challenger near here.  It is still a JH car.
