M46 in Australia but gone to custom heaven.
« on: February 05, 2008 - 05:56:50 AM »
I've been watching this build for quite a while but only just realised that it might be an M46 (based on the obvious paint alone though - can't see any scoops and can't find out any tag details).  Well it is well on the way to becoming a SikFish copy now so may never know.

Parts fro this car are long gone.  I did manage to talk to the builders early on and they sold most of the parts to a dealer in Melbourne.  Based on the pics, scoops may not have been on the car when they got it.

Hey Mark,

Their is a good chance it could of been an M46, because all the Black out is correct for the M46 Black outs.  The scoops may of been damaged as so many are and the sills were covered up with 70 Gran Coupe sill moulds by the looks.   Will have to findout about the fender tag. :2thumbs:

Nice find!

I wonder if the builders know if those were the original rockers?  There would be holes for the scoops, yes?  :clueless:  There may be signs that they were filled in if it was the original metal I would think.  :dunno:

It's hard to go on just the paint alone IMO.  Some people like the black out on the bottom.  The original owner of my Challenger (I know, not a Barracuda) put black out on my car in the 70's or 80's...

:iagree:  I wish that all of these cars would not be changed or cut up.  I know they are there cars but still an M46 Barracuda is rare and not easy to come by.  I may make a few changes to mine but not that radical.  I do want some of the modern things on it but will have to see how I go with the build.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Lots of mods have been done to that car. No telling what it was. It has gran coupe rockers, after market mirrors, hockey stripe, 72 and up rally cones, hood pins on a flat hood, cant see the black out in the rear quarters, and the grill has been painted. Without a fender tag, we will never know what the car was. And it may even be a bp car.  Looks/looked nice though :2thumbs:
