Carlisle or.....

This may seem like a stupid question, but maybe I'm looking to you guys to talk me into it.
I went to Carlisle in 2005, and was hands down the greatest auto event I have ever had the pleasure of attending.
To meet the people and see the cars of Cuda-Challenger alone was something great.

With all that said, I have the Challenger in perfect condition now to road trip ( anyone who remebers, I had a wee overheating issue entering the fair grounds ) and I wanted to do a large scale car event.

Living in Cleveland we hear about the Woodward Dream cruise. An event held in the auto meca, where cars cruise the streets.
The problem is I'm not sure what to expect in Detroit. The more I look up on it, the more I'm finding things like you rent your parking spots!? Is my car going to be safe parked out at the hotel?
And probably one of the biggest draw backs is unlike Carlisle, I probably won't have a group to kick around with.

Yes they are at different dates, but I can only realy do 1 this year.

So, with Carlisle I know I can caravan with a group, we will all be in the same hotel, I had no problems with the safety of my car, Had a great time with the CC group, like I said, I think I'm leaning towards Carlisle, but what do you guys think?

I think everybody should do the Dream Cruise at least once. That said, it's a differnet kind of event, mostly in that it's designed to be mobile. The people who are parking and setting up various shows are mostly unaffiliated with the Cruise itself, and most of them that I recall do indeed charge for parking; it's basically how business and property owners along the route make money.

As for whether your car would be safe ... I wouldn't even hazard a guess. Too many factors there (where you're staying, what kind of parking, what kind of security, etc.). I agree that it's an issue, though.

Personally I think Carlisle is more relaxing and more fun.

Yeah there's a lot of other shows around there, but I think Carlisle draws more than the Mopar Nats in OH, which from what I hear is basically the "Second most famous" among Mopar owners.

Carlisle in 07 was the most amazing experience - literally changed my life.  To miss out on Carlisle would be like missing out on your child's wedding!

Food, drinks, TONS of laughs and good fun.  And April and I have some real good fun in store for y'all.    Parties in the hotel parking lot, April grunge dancing at the tent - how can you miss it?!?!?!

I'll see you at Carlisle, buddy.

You answered your own question!! cruises are never as fun as an All Mopar event!!

Here's another way of looking at it:

Every time I went to the Dream Cruise, I'd see stuff that I'd never seen before, stuff I'd only read about.  For an overall car experience, I'd vote for the Dream Cruise. To see even a fraction of what's there, I'm on my feet the whole day.

Every time I've gone to the Chryslers at Carlisle show I see lots of cool cars as well, and sometimes  some very rare cars, but I also get to see and interact with a lot of cool people.

I go to both and they are different.  Woodward is a week long thing these days.

Well that settles it then, I will be going to Carlisle this year.
Think I'll bring the wife this year.
Maybe, just maybe we will have my brother's 'Cuda done by then too.

I'm going to have to make a list of who's coming and get my room reserved.

As far as the Dream Cruise, maybe I'll head up there for a Saturday in my daily driver then and just check it out.

Pack yer bags - I'm going to Carlisle!

  Where ya been Jeff? Missed ya buddy, yep you know you can't do better than Carlisle. Bring your wife and your brother too, man that's what it's all about. I don't know what your overheating problem may have been but I do know I had a similiar situation with our Chally...............Neil touched it and it has never overheated since. CP said most of my problem was timing. The man is a Mopar Wizzard.
