Help, I'm BUZZED Out
« on: February 06, 2008 - 10:50:47 PM »
Decided to take her out today on my long trip to work- 1.8 miles, nice sunny day, no rain forecast.

When I started her up, the ignition buzzer went on & never stopped.
Even for 1.8 miles, it's sooo loud, it's making me nuts.

Anyone have any idea what's causing it, or how to fix it, or how to disconnect the buzzer b4 I get a chance to have it fixed.

Thanks in advance,
Billy

go under the dash, its plugged into the fuse box. you can pull it out with no ill effects. Could be a door switch wire shorted or something, internally its broken, gotta see! post if you cant find it lol, it'd drive me nuts

Probably caused by the door switch or shorted wiring BUT if it's like my '73 the key buzzer is also the horn relay so removing it disables your horns.

I think some of those you can bend over the buzzer terminal and plug it back in to disable the buzzer. I need to do that on my car - buzzing drives me crazy sometimes with key in and door opened!

Thanks for the props guys, and for the info too.
I love that wide molding, got a nos set on ebay.
As for the package tray, I didn't see one anywhere in white.
And the dash, console and carpet is black so it's not bad.

It was orig a petty blue rallye, and I owned a new 71 way back when, but in the resto, I had the car done the way I wanted her to look-
70 striping, 71 chrome molding, etc.

That "new" 71 that I owned was blue, white top and interior, plus a powered sunroof.
Sure wish I didn't call it a heap of junk when I traded her in back in 76.
Matter of fact, wish I kept her.
But back then to me it was a pos that rattled and rode like crap, it was more prestigous to own a new car then. What a dummy I was.

some have the buzzer & horn relay in one unit so you may need to just bend 1 tab over to disable the buzzer

Man, what a beauty.
I also have a 70 coupe parked in my garage, never thought much of it till now, after seeing yours :droolingbounce:
It will certainly be my next project after I finish my 71 convertible's restoration.
I love the wide molding and wish to add one to my conv. I know you said you got it on ebay, but any one still making them? ANy other source?
Cheers.

GARY- how ya doin buddy.
Thank you and you personally know how much I wanted a purple one, lol.
When ya gonna post some pics of your projects?????

Challenger_7
I have never seen any repos on that wide trim.
You would think someone would have made them by now.
I got a decent deal on em, I think I paid 1900, but I've seen them go for much more.
There was a set on ebay recently that had the 2 side pieces NOS, and the long center piece was pretty much mint.
Was listed several times, I think the seller wanted 2600 for them, they never sold.

Billy - Doing okay out here. I know what you mean about the purple car.  Wish I never sold it especially since the money went to a Bad investment.

Dropping an engine in one of my projects today.  I'll start a thread on it.  It's not a Cuda or Challenger though - it's a 72 RR clone.  Painted it Curious Yellow and am doing a pretty close to full resto on it.  Getting 440 is fully rebuilt, interior will be all new, rebuilt all of the front end, installed front disc brakes - well you get the picture. It'll be for sale shortly.

My other project is a #'s matching 383 '70 Challenger R/T.  Almost done with the body work on it and am really trying to decide if I want to go back to the original FK5 Burnt Orange or paint it black.  Leaning towards black purely for resale value (another one I can't afford to keep - darnit).  The car did not have fender tags or build sheet so I don't think the color change will hurt it.

Third car in the project shop is another 72 Satellite.  318 car that also needs afull resto.  trying to decide what to do with it...
