    V9X is the code for billboard stripes, (black)
    V9W (white billboard)



    V8X would be a bumblebee stripe, (black)
    V8W (white)
    V8B (blue)
    V8F (green)
    V8R (red)
    V88 (bumblebee stripe delete)

     I'm pretty sure on these, if someone would like to confirm?  :thumbsup:

    V8X is WRONG for an e-body, only b-bodies and a-bodies had this code.  That is a repop tag and they screwed it up!  '70 Challengers ONLY had 4 types of stripe codes and V8* wasn't one of them.  The four stripe codes are as follows:

    (*) denotes colour

    1. Longtitudal R/T stripe = V6*, i.e.; V6X Black, V6W White, V6F Green, V6B Blue, V6R Red, V6M Magenta,
        V6J Charteuse
    2. Bumble Bee stripe = V9* (colours are the same except Red is V9E not V9R, and there are more color options
    3. Pinstripe = V7*, (only two colors available: V7X Black and V7W white
    4. Body side moulding = V5* (only available in V5X Black, V5W White, V5F Green, V5B Blue, V5R Red)

    V68 is the code for 'Stripe Delete'

    I would love to know that myself.....

    HRX9 is a legitimate code for 1970 Challengers, leather & vinyl bucket seat interior in black.

     This is right out of the  Challenger & Barracuda Restoration Guide 1967-1974
    Unless I am reading this wrong  :dunno:

    That book has so many mistakes in it that it is almost funny. Almost.   :walkaway:

    It is a shame that the pages are a bit too glossy to use as TP, otherwise it might be of some use.  :bigsmile:


    V8_ is tape stripes, transverse and V9_ are the painted bumble bee stripes on Challengers.


    As far as 1970 cars go, V8_ stripes were only available on A and B-bodies.  :2cents:

    all this stripe talk has me wondering about the stripes on my car.  is this a factory stripe on a 71 or something the dealer added?

    heh well in my defense i just cut and pasted from an email the then seller sent me before i bought the car.  the tag was and is pretty rusty although ive brushed the loose paint off it and sprayed it with a couple coats of permatex rust treatment now. from what i can see it says:

    Your V5 X is the side body mouldings and the V5 X is code for Black. (V5X)
    The side stripe maybe a dealer installed thing or something someone had done on their own accord buddy. :2thumbs:
